treberty Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I've always like this little belvedere, ever since it was launched. I was wondering why the Open line was not reviewed much by the members of FOH... So I thought maybe I'd review the Junior: it's one of my go-to cigars when I don't have much time on my hands! 1/3: quickly you taste the brioche and black pepper, some wood as well. Beautiful colorado wrapper. Construction is flawless. Really good draw. 2/3: same notes of spices and wood, but a bit more mellow. Still burning like a champ! 3/3: shows some strength, but never too much. More black pepper and wood toward the end. Out of maybe 4 boxes I only encountered one that was not perfectly packed and rolled, but it was still enjoyable. Never disappointed by this cigar: a great 25-35 minute smoke! I'd give it a 90 without any hesitation. 2
archosaur Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Good review! Sounds like a fine small smoke. I got a kick out of your question, recalling how Rob and the boys really unloaded on the Open series, years ago. To answer your question (and worth checking out for the comedy/nostalgia/strange hairstyles alone): Eagle: http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97925&hl=open Master: http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97926&hl=open Junior: http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=97927&hl=open
archosaur Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 And incidentally, I've never had an Open, but if I ever come across a single I'd be inclined to pick one up just to see for myself. Hard to believe a little belvedere like this could be 'diabolical' (Ken's description of the Junior, et al)
treberty Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Wow. That was harsh! Still like it... I don't need to follow the herd. Worth a try for those who never had one. And Those hairstyles were awesome! :-) 1
Lotusguy Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 My wife quite enjoys them. I don't mind them either. Not a miracle of complexity but pleasant.
