Hello everyone. I am a noob to the CC world, but after smoking a Monte No. 2 last year, I have seen the light. After scouring the internets for the past 6 months, all I have learned is that 50% of the time, 80% of the CC info out there is garbage. After spending a few days scouring this forum, I am excited to be surrounded by friends with a common interest and a deep knowledge.

Looking forward to meeting many of you in the coming months. Cheers!

Where in NY?

Ah, so what's you're verdict on the various Cigar Bars there? Frequently up for discussion here....

Carnegie Club, Club Macanudo, Bar & Books (Hudson, Lex, Beekman). Merchants, Circa Tabac (now Club Soho) and the rest?

Always like to hear the locals' perspective.

Funny, but I am making my first voyage to the Carnegie Club this week. I was told to pack a "burner," which is apparently the lingo for a shirt that needs to be burned after visiting there (I was told that the ventilation system struggles to keep up with the smoke during the cocktail hour). I will have to post about that when I get back.

Sadly, work and home life have prevented me from enjoying the cigar bar scene here. I have been to Club Mac a couple of times, which I enjoyed. My small circle of aficionado friends are somewhat dismissive of it, which I can only assume is because they consider themselves more of a Grand Havana Room-type crowd. The ventilation is surprisingly good, although there were not many people there during either of my visits.

What seems to be the general consensus of the crowd here in FoH?

For me Merchants is tops all around. Nice ambiance, live jazz, good drink selection at a reasonable cost, good eats if you're inclined.

Comfy furnishings and room to move and breathe - ventilation's not bad. Patrons are reasonable human beings, service is top notch and staff are easy on the eye.

Didn't mention GHR due to its exclusivity though have visited a couple of times.

I was always under the impression that a burner in NYC was a non traceable firearm used in illicit activities that you threw out after use. Guess different areas have different meanings depending where you are in NYC lol.

Thanks for the recomendation, Mike. I am going to put Merchants next on the list. Of course, next is a relative term for me... Could be six weeks from now.

Monk - Obrigado! That is officially one-half of my total knowledge of the Portuguese language. Todo bon being the other. Either way, thanks!

Pantherzfan - I like you already. When I was in college, a 'burner' was something you treated with penicillin. Glad to have zero experience with any of the three definitions. I'll keep you posted if that statistic changes.
