Ken Gargett Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 a mate took his family up north for a holiday - first in ages so he had promised it would be a relax but he threw in his 8 weight at the last minute plus a few flies. he is an okay, at best, fisherman (bit obsessive though that is yet to translate to skill - and although that might also describe me, it was not me), though thinks he is way better than he really is. anyway, decided to have a flick. not exactly sure where he was. some tiny near deserted island - this was the haul for a quick fish. i am so envious. and i think that what they call alligator gar up there is most probably a long tom. also, the tarpon we have out here are a much smaller species. have not had a chance to chat to find out the sizes but i think not huge as only an 8 and he did mention that they also did some spinning and got a heap of other species but broken of by the larger fish. even had a sailfish chase a lure.
