shlomo Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 You're the one who initially said "...If you know of a scumbag who has cheated others in the community, I feel like it is your duty and responsibility to add to the list to make sure he or she doesn't do it again..." So, I'm making reference to someone who has mildly slighted me (a few fraudulent sticks, versus passing off whole boxes of premium stuff), but had previously screwed over others worse. Bigger fish to fry, IMO. Yes, it's my judgement, my interpretation, my gut feeling, as to whether or not I decide to place that person on there, considering how bad I feel the offence was. Besides, the Scumbag list doesn't really help things generally, IMO. It's like online battle/flame zones and such - usually doesn't add anything to the individual benefit. Some us just choose to rise above it, rather than waste our time. And...I don't need someone else to tell me what is or isn't my duty or responsibility, LOL. I couldn't disagree more. Somebody passed off fakes to you and screwed others over, and you keep it private... I can't understand why you wouldn't warn others about this individual. 4

Many on here know who he is, including admin and mods. Disagree all you want - it's not your call. Mine was more a "last chance" for this individual, offered as part of a trade, after he was already outted at another location. Bridges have been fully burned, IMO, especially after he failed to answer for himself via email queries. Sent from my iPhone via Tapatalk. 1
shlomo Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Well, I hope I never trade with this guy....Care to PM me his name and info? 2

There have been some pretty well-publicized instances of thieves making off with tens of thousands of dollars, either in passing fakes or outright theft, only to find out later that there were circles of people who knew what was going on, and never alerted the larger community. I certainly respect that a lot of these circles want to conduct their business privately. And I would certainly never them that they owe anyone anything. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's anyone's duty to report someone to the scumbag list. But a lot of us don't have access to the same information as those who have been around the hobby longer and are more connected. So the list has tremendous value to the community. The more information we have, especially from some of those well-respected, established circles within the community, the more protection the community at large has from thieves. 4
