glassbase Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I was rummaging through some old photos and came across this picture.. Before I got into cigars, an opportunity came up where my step grandfather was growing a few tobacco plants as a hobby and asked If I wanted some. I believe it was a Connecticut leaf although I can't confirm. It grew very well in my Northern climate and was a very fun experience to watch it grow and eventually flower which is also beautiful. They are a nice plant to have growing in the yard if not to smoke, it tended to attract the bugs to its leaves even though nothing really ate the leaves. Knowing what I know now about growing, cultivating, and curing I would consider growing again but don't think the intention would be to ever roll/smoke my own, just as a fun gardening adventure. Anyone else tried to grow their own tobacco? If yes, what were the results?

CUBANO Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 If I had a green thumb like you, I'll be growing it, rolling it and smoking it.
MrGTO Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 I use to bail tobacco for my buddys dad here in Tennessee when I was young. The most we ever did was twist it up and chew it. Way better than store chew.
