When you custom roll aficionados order up a batch from your favorite roller, do you ask for specific blends? Care to share your preferred 'recipes' from vitola to blend?

For myself I do not ask any of the custom rollers in Cuba to alter their blends. I only ask for specific vitolas. Getting a specific flavour profile that you are looking for from a custom is really down to trial and error. When I first started visiting cuba I tried as many different custom rolls as possible until i settled upon 4 or 5 of my favorites. Going forward i typically will only get customs from them. Once in a while I will revisit other rollers to see if there has been a change in either my palate or the rollers blend. Some of it also has to do with the quality of leaf that they are supplied with which is why it is always good to never totally abandon one of the rollers from your list.

I know some rollers can roll a known blend in a unusual size as I have seen Por Larranaga and Ramon Allones Salmones from time to time.

I myself have a couple of bundles of Sublime sized cigars that are supposed to be the Cohiba Gran Reserva blend

Never asked myself to the roller an specific blend.

IMO it would be like asking the chef to change some ingredients in his recipe. Of course there is space to ask a stronger or milder cigar.

No. Never. I know that any roller good enough to get a gig front of house in a cigar shop in Cuba will know how to use the tobacco they get better than I do.

Besides, it's Cuba, people in the service industry won't say "no" to you. They'll get you whatever you ask for and they'll tell you that what they are giving you is whatever it is you asked for. Rollers are less likely to do this, it's usually more the "middle-man" if there is one.
