El Presidente Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Nothing new in the article except that I didn't realise Cuba was also taking on accessories manufacturers. It is getting warm in the kitchen. http://news.yahoo.com/whats-name-cuban-cigars-plant-legal-seeds-u-151829605--finance.html
JohnS Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 In 2012 it (Habanos S.A.) successfully blocked Kansas City-based Xikar Inc from registering the name Havana Collection for a line of $300 cigar cutters made in France and decorated with pieces of Cuban cigar bands and box art. "Habanos claimed we were causing confusion about the origin of the product," Xikar Chief Executive Kurt Van Keppel told Reuters. "Nobody was confused whether this was made in Cuba. We advertised them as made in Paris." We knew about the cigar brands, but yes, I was surprised to learn this too.
FLB03TT Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Grab the popcorn and a fistful DCs, this will be a long strange trip to any semblance of resolution.
