forgop Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Lit one up ROTT and noticed this after turning/lighting, saw this. No others appear to be like this. Freezer time?
forgop Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 Oh goodness-about 10 minutes in, it turned I to this and was so awful I had to chuck it.
JohnS Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 My first thought upon viewing is unfortunately you hit one with a heavy vein in it and it burnt fiercely along the wrapper, causing the images you've uploaded. Since the Psd6 is only 3 1/2 inches (or 90mm) in length, the burn is unlikely to correct when it's as long as that in the first half of the cigar.
Ubergosupro69 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 There's no sign of burning in that hole in the wrapper...
... Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Nothing wrong with a short sleep in the freezer. Needed or not, it will likely increase your quality of sleep
forgop Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 I believe it was a beetle that bored through from the outside and caused the "vein" down the center. The taste was far worse than any other cigar I've had.
JohnS Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 There's no sign of burning in that hole in the wrapper... Yes that's correct, but I can't help but feel that the hole we see has occurred along the vein from within, and after lighting due to the heat. The other image shows a classic tunnel. It could still be a construction issue. I believe it was a beetle that bored through from the outside and caused the "vein" down the center. The taste was far worse than any other cigar I've had. If it is beetles, inspect the box as soon as possible. Take out the other cigars and tap them to see if there is evidence of droppings.
forgop Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 I chucked it along the pond last night. I'll grab it and open it up for inspection.

RickHendeson Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 UGH man there should be a warning the topic or something -- Not for the squeamish
soutso Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Maybe the taste was poor because you smoked one right upon delivery? We should be patient and store for a while before sampling them. That said, I often don't wait.
Smallclub Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 This hole is definitely the work of a beetle, nothing to do with a vein. If the cigar tastes bad, it would have tasted bad without the beetle… 1

JohnS Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 I wish you all the best with your other Partagas Serie D No.6 cigars. Let me encourage you to persevere as the one I had today was indeed a 'flavour bomb' as some have aptly described it. 1

I have no way of knowing how much damage a beetle can accomplish in transit, but I'll just say it was previously "inspected". It's in the freezer now.
atlharp Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Yep.That's a beetle. Check the rest of the box and freeze if necessary.
