When I get to the bottom layer in a box, I usually start to get nervous. At this point I generally order another box if it's a standard production cigar. When I was better stocked (before my triplets were born) I just bought 4 boxes at a time to avoid anxiety.

However there are some cigars that you can't get anymore. I just realized that I am down to my last 7 Bolivar Especiales #2.

At this point, do you say "what the heck" and power thru your last few cigars? Or do you put them away and try to forget about them?

This is why I stay away from anything limited release for the simple fact if I like it I cannot justify smoking it.

Good god could you imagine running out of one of your favorite smokes knowing none are left? Hide them bastards!

Smoke them while you have them and after that some other good smokes will pop up.

Get down to the last 2 and then forget about them for a couple of years.

Enjoy today, tomorrow is not promised.

This. Yeah, it kind of sucks when your down to your last few of a special cigar but at the end of the day its just a cigar and the ones you did smoke you enjoyed (hopefully) you were in good health and with good company.

Throttle on brother!

Definitely slow it down, find something else to smoke for a while and go back for a special smoke

I smoke the best ones I have now and then move on to the next. enjoy!

I smoke all but the last one. I put it in my desktop and look at and think about smoking it but usually wind up giving it to my son.

This (except the part about the son)

I have a special desktop humidor that has the remnants of all my special sticks

My rule of thumb with special releases is amass a box or two and a handful of singles

The boxes get stashed away for a few years and the singles are usually smoked fresh

I've always believed that your next life changing cigar may be right around the corner, so I don't go too deep on the special stuff, but zi do like to keep the last stick, one day I might end up with a desktop full of long gone LE's from my youth

I would slow smoke them. Maybe one every 6 months . That will hold you for 3 1/2 years. In the meantime, I'm sure if you look hard enough you will find another box. You may have to pay but you'll fine them.

If they are smoking great right now than I'll definitely throttle up as nothing guarantees that they are going to get better. I've made the mistake of waiting too long for some cigars and they never really evolved into what I thought they had the "potential" to become.

I'm not a super bulk buyer, but if it's tasty right away I strike while it's hot. End of a box will give me anxiety, but may not think I have to buy more right away.

Back off the throttle and find somthing else to cut loose on. There always those days when you would like a special treat.

I dip into that box less and less until I get more in the humi. If its one of my faves. If not I just smoke them up or kind of forget about them only to try again at a later date.

Depends on how it's smoking, if good I'll go for it and possibly save 2 to see how they are after so many years. If not so good I leave them alone to see if they get better with time.

What about a different solution? Smoke a few as per normal, then save 3 or 4 for that special occasion which warrants a special cigar. Sometimes, you can have the best of both worlds.

I'm definitely the type that will hold onto the last of a cigar with my dear life. That's why most of my collection is/was compromised of every cigar you could imagine, NC or CC, but only 1-2 of them or if they came from boxes, most of the second half would remain.

Now that I'm a bit older and in a better financial position than I was when I started smoking, I've been lucky enough to freely try those cigars and also buy more stock in certain favorites. Some of the more rarer cigars I've also purchased with the intent to try annually to see how they develop or put away as a personal investment where I can thank myself later. Hahah

I am smoking my last 2005 Esplendido right now while watching Teen Titans with my kids....Saturday afternoon perfection! :)

I definitely slow it down when I hit the last 6 or so, and I never smoke the final stick solo, but rather save two, three or four and finish them off with friends.
