Construction

This cigar is just visually stunning. And big…holy cow is this one big cigar!! The figurado shape always mesmerizes me and I just love smoking them. There were a couple larger veins in the wrapper but overall the construction of this cigar is second to none and I can’t wait to cut and light it. I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking on construction and you guys can decide for yourself what you think!

Pre-light

I cut just a bit off the end and the draw was pretty much perfect; just ever so slightly on the easy/loose side of things. On the cold draw the cigar gives away beautiful flavors of earth, heavy cream, leather, and the slightest bit of cocoa and coffee. The notes are not bold, but they are perfectly placed and delivered in just the right amount.

1/3

Upon lighting this cigar the cold draw notes come forward in a beautiful bouquet of complexity. The cigar starts off mild and just embodies earth and soil. Notes of leather, Cuban barnyard, and grass are present and wrapped in heavy cream as the smoke coats the tongue. The cigar doesn’t produce an amazing volume of smoke, nor is it very dense or viscous but it is certainly enjoyable! The burn started off just slightly angled but managed to correct itself for the most part without any touchups. This cigar is beautiful and makes both bold statements by its looks and its flavor profile.

2/3

Just about to enter the second third and the ash is still holding on. I looked up some other reviews of this cigar and everyone across the board said they were impressed with out long the ash held on and I must say I agree with them! There is a twang about this cigar flavor wise that I just can’t put my finger on. It’s like a combination of earth, soil, grass, and barnyard with just a bit of acidity. It’s a flavor profile that I’ve never had before and is really quite interesting and enjoyable. In other reviews some folks said this cigar was bold and full bodied while others said it was mild overall. I must say I feel that this cigar is still very mild in body. I don’t find this cigar to be very strong or spicy in any way. The first third lasted just about 57 minutes and this cigar continues to burn very evenly and cool. I think the fact that the ash is holding on for so long helps with how smooth and cool this cigar is burning. The ash finally fell for the first time at about a ¼ of the way through the second third. Total length on the first ash was just about two inches, maybe a little less. The burn has pretty much stayed even as can be since about half way through the first third.

3/3

This cigar started falling flat for me as I worked through the final third. The flavors became more muted and the body of the cigar didn’t change much. I did have to relight the cigar twice during this final stage which did slightly affect the taste. I ended up letting this one go about halfway through the final third. At the time I put the cigar down the total smoking time was 2 hrs. 20min. Had I nubbed this cigar I would estimate that it easily would have been a 3 hr... 3 hr. 25 minute smoke.

Overall

My overall takeaway from this cigar is pretty good. I will say, this cigar commands your presence with its size and shape. For me this isn’t a cigar that I would want a box of just because of the time commitment required to enjoy such a large cigar. However, to have 5 or so on hand for those rare occasions would be welcome in my book. The flavor profile of this cigar is very unique and not one I’ve experienced with any other Cuban that I’ve had before.

All the images are showing up for me...I have been using photobucket for all my uploads. Are my other reviews working for you?

Seth

Yes, the images for the H.Upmann Magnum 46 review were perfect.

well wtf guys. I'm sorry. I guess I can try and re-upload them. They are working for me and the other reviews all have the images. I have no clue what's going on and I'm not very computer savy.

Okay, hopefully all the reviews are fixed...I changed the folder on my photobucket account and apparently that voided all the URL IMG links....soooo I just had to go back through all my reviews and re upload the pictures. I hope this worked guys.

Sorry,

Seth
