tjohn7 Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Opening: Nice earthy notes. Good construction on this stick, nice foot with a smooth wrapper. Good first impressions. First third: This cigar starts off great. Smooth smoke with every puff. Cream and coffee come through and I couldn’t be happier. A very relaxing smoke. Not a whole lot of different flavoring showing up, but it’s unbelievably pleasant nonetheless. The body is just under medium at this point. Burn is great. Second third: A lot of the same. No real changes in the flavor profile. Coffee and cream all day. Flavor profile shifts up a notch to a bit above medium. Burn is even with a nice thick ash. This stick has a nice open draw, but is still taking me a while to make progress on. Final third: This stick isn’t dynamic at all, but that’s okay. I believe the Especials that Rob and Smithy reviewed a month back were the same way. Great profile, great burn, good draw, but no real progression of the flavor profile. As a result, I’ve got to knock this one down just a few notches, even though I could smoke these all day. First third: 91 Second third: 91 Final third: 90 Overall: 90. Damn good smoke, but without any progression or complexity I just can’t give it higher marks. Still, if you’ve got these lying around I’d love to take them off your hands haha. Tom 1
soutso Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 Nice review. I put Monte 2 in three categories. 1. tasteless 2. pleasant (your experiencein this review) and the majority of sticks are this way for me 3. Outstanding - bakery type aromas, tastes - cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, spice. You pray for this experience before lighting each one. 1
joeypots Posted November 24, 2014 Posted November 24, 2014 A couple more years and these will come into their own. Especially if the pack a punch. 1
liger930 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Great review. I had one yesterday and couldn't agree more with you. It was a very good cigar. Just shy of great.
