Overproof Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 My soon to be 'certified carport' is quickly going to be transformed into a 6 x 4 studio (control room and vocal booth). Foundation will be a concrete slab. Stud framed walls, scallion roof. Outside will be cladded to match our house. I'll build a room within a room, float the floor and roof etc..Nothing too fancy Looking for some advice from any of the members here that may have done a project like this...Specifically any advice on room treatment, ventilation, reflections etc.. Id love to smoke a cigar in there from time to time too without being too detrimental to the equip and finishing, but removing smell and pulling smoke out of a already pretty airtight room could get a little expensive. 3
MWH Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Hey Overproof Sounds Like an awesome space Sounds Like a Challenge using Extraction that will not send a hum into your Gear( you may have to run Isolation Transformers) an external Aircon system should work if ducted in but still it is very noisy if you are wanting to record "miked" instruments in the main studio space. Cheers
Strada Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Good for you! A dream for many guys I used to run a small house studio when I did production for artist, movies, series and commercials but it was only for single instrument/vox recording when I needed it. I don't experience in building but I can wish you luck!!!! 1

Cheers Yeah ducted would probably blow the budget out but I'll cost it all up. No big deal really, it all about the MUSIC!!!
