headstand Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Paddled the North Saskatchewan river with my son a couple of weekends ago. Nordegg to Rocky Mountain House, so approximately 110 km over three days running east through the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. Fast water, high volume river. We managed to stay dry-ish and afloat, although we did end up ass backward at the end of a whitewater stretch called Devil's Elbow. Never a good idea to take a named rapid lightly... Great times and perfect fall weather. Evenings spent enjoying CCs by open fire: Punch Punch, Boli CJ, J Lopez #1, RASCC. Only grief is that junior drank more than his allotted share whiskey. Next time I'll keep a closer eye on that kid Alan Photo 1 the Gap through the Brazeau range. Photo 2 lunch break day 2 Photo 3 me wondering how we are going to get canoe up a steep 20 ft pullout. 3
headstand Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 Yup. Next trip will be the Bowron Lakes in central BC Cariboo mountains. I do miss the paddling the Pre-Cambrian Shield rivers out east though - a very different feel to those rivers.
leftimatic Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 The Bowron Area is beautiful. Always wanted to do Algonquin Park. Used to fish a little lake near there with my dad called Trout spawn lake loved it. nice photos looked like a great adventure.
dvickery Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 very nice and very close to where i live . have always thought it ironic that bc is nothing but mountains yet alberta got all the best mountains . at least the best ones accessible by road . derrek 1
