Habana Mike Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Upon opening the box a rich musty and earthy aroma arises. From the remaining few I select tonight's victim. It's around 6:30 and I've a JWB rocks to pair. Cocoa brown wrapper, bit rough and veiny. Nice box press to it. Clipped, lit and we're off! Super kick out of the gate with chocolate and leather in abundance. Firm draw, decent smoke production. Whitish grey flaky ash and a bit uneven burn but all good! Solid earth on the retrohale along with some nice nuttiness and baking spice. Quite a lot going on for such a diminuitive stick. Nice twang to it, flavors deepen toward the mid-point. Chocolate is strong with this one. Lingers thick on the palate for what seems an eternity - not a bad thing..... Burn stays a bit wonky but no touch up. Very full-bodied after the half (hard to do thirds with a Minuto). More a bitter chocolate/espresso now, quite nice. Some plum and earth notes coming in as well. Here's the point I start dreading the end as I know it's coming soon Getting some pepper spice on the tongue and through the nasal cavity as it approaches the final 1/2 inch. Cocoa has dissipated though the leather and barnyard hold strong. Almost 60 minutes in I set it to rest with strong dark notes of earth and spice lingering on my lips and tongue. Fantastic! 2
