soutso Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 You know what? Whilst it would be absurd to say that the Monte 5's are the best cigars you can have, I must admit that I've never craved a cigar as much as I do this these little fockers. They're dangerous. Good or bad I just always enjoy them, actually I just love them. I treat them poorly, I leave them on my dashboard in the sun or place one in the kitchen and forget about it and see it a day later. I smoke them and yet they never let me down. I treat every other damn cigar like it's a rod of pure gold. I think its my subconscious gaining some sort of revenge because as you get into them, as you start to think 'this is wonderful....', they're burning your fingers. They always seem to get you back. Needless to say this is a quick review. This review is of a monte 5 from a box I chewed through in less than 3 weeks. It's difficult to have less than one per day. I have gained access into the Mrs studio. She has gotten used to my company and some of your kind words in previous reviews have encouraged her to look kindly upon me as I look for somewhere comfortable to enjoy my smoke away from the kids, out of the house and from the cold. (Though it is starting to warm up now) Below is the little sucker. Veiny wrapper, bumps abound, green marks. It's ugly. However... delicious. It started off very toasty with a woody aroma. She's getting ready for an exhibition later this month. She used to exhibit in a gallery in Sydney's Ultimo area but lately she's had great success in exhibiting at a local coffee shop. My trusty cat is around too. I don't think anything else loves me as much in this world. I despised cats growing up (for no real reason too) This one was left in a box at our doorstep and my apathy in getting rid of her prevented me from passing her on. It was just easier to buy catfood. Three years later and I swear she follows my every move. Below is a work she was working on during my previous review. She tells me that it's not quite finished, that it needs something. She asks me for my opinion. I just said that it is excellent. Like the excellent dress she wore at my mates wedding. Like the excellent hair colour she came home with last month... Its getting spicy now. Nice and bitey. I love you Monte 5 Just out of interest I often see this dimple below when I cut a cap off. Does anyone know why? I'm coming toward the end now. Often toward the end of these I detect a coffee/cocoa taste but that's not the case with this one. This one has stayed spicy and toasty. One quick look at a finished piece and I'm off to bed. Cheers 2
ksblazer Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Thanks for sharing your thoughts and reviewing this cigar. I originally just saw your other post with the pic's.and assumed that this was a double post. My best short cigar purchase was a 10ct of Monte No.5's. I think they were 2006's. They were like smoking a coffee mocha. Need to pick some of these up. They have been on my to get list for some time now.
Habana Mike Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 While I've maybe had a couple in the distant past I too recently picked up a box and also found myself drawn to them. Smoked two the first day I opened the box - for a fresh smoke, quite good! That dimple shows up on well-rolled cigars that had a twisted knot of tobacco inside when the cap was applied.
soutso Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 Ok, I think I've fixed the thread as to how I intended it to be. Yes I agree with the above comments, theyre delightful. Hard to resist.

RijkdeGooier Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 One of my go-to cigars for the morning smoke after breakfast. They are just lovely little smokes that start off your day in a good way. 1
