Hello to all,

I will be attending a conference from 14th - 19th November in San Antonio, TX. I am from Toronto, Canada and unfortunately don't know much about the cigar scene in Texas.

Could anyone recommend me a few good places to smoke, stores to check out, things to do.

Hell, if anyone would like to meet up during that time, I'll be down. I'll even bring some goodies with me too :D

Finick's is about the best spot/lounge to buy and smoke at.

The Yardhouse is a great place to drink at, they have a nice patio and plenty of other awesome stuff you can walk to.

El Chaparral Mexican Food in the Helotes area is amazing.

Chesters Cheesburgers is a must do.

Magnolia Pancake Haus for breakfast is a must!

Where are you staying?

Hi Skyfall,

I was hoping you would reply to this post ;)

Thanks for your recommendations, I am so excited to try those out!

How cigar friendly would you say TX is? If you lit up, will people around you give you the 'Stink eye'?

Right now my room isnt booked yet, but most likely will be the same hotel hosting the conference.

Texas is very Cigar Friendly, however in the past 5 years, San Antonio has done away with indoor smoking. But you still can inside cigar lounges, just not bars and restaurants, San Antonio is VERY spread out, it sounds like you will be downtown, which isn't a bad thing, but it's very touristy and the bars and restaurants on the Riverwalk are not the best the city has to offer.

Downtown , you can get cigars and smoke at Swig Martini Bar ( you may still be able to smoke inside here) and Club Humidor - which is owned by Davidoff.

If you are tied down to the downtown area, check out: Biga on the Banks, Bohanan's Prime Steak, Las Ramblas, Zocca, Boudro's, Luke.

Stay away from Bill Miller's BBQ, and alot of people like Rudy's BBQ (I'm not a fan, but it's ok I guess)

For BBQ, check out Big Bib.

If you want places that have more beer to choose from than you can imagine: check these out in this order:

The Yardhouse

The flying Saucer

The Friendly Spot

Filling Station Tap Room (downtown)

Granary

If you like awesome cocktails, check out The Brooklynite downtown.

Agree with Magnolia Pancake Haus…..that's a must-visit place if you can get there. Club Humidor is a great place to smoke and within walking distance from Grand Hyatt & Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center…..normally I'd buy a cheap cigar from them and smoke a CC in the lounge. Never been bothered. Enjoy the river walk….should be real nice in November! :)

P.S. If you're downtown…..stay away from "****'s Last Resort" unless you're a "strong" person. Another BOTL friend of mine was visiting San Antonio and staying down at the Riverwalk…..he didn't realize ****'s is a place where they're paid to treat you like an idiot lol I'm not kidding, the servers are d*ck's lol….a unique restaurant I guess. Some people like it some don't….my friend told me he asked for napkins and they "threw" a stack of them in the air lol Have heard other stories too….look it up pin yelp haha Personally, I'm not brave enough to go there as I don't think I would handle it well especially since that's the "format" of that establishment lol
