I'm a single malt scotch and bourbon guy, through and through. I used to buy multiple bottles every other week and, aside from the cheap bourbon I down in a night out with friends, I usually sip them slowly and they last a while. That has left me with a nice little collection.

Seems like lately, now that I've found my love for Cubans, all of my discretionary income goes toward new boxes of CCs to age, and now there's no room for the whisky! I'm interested in getting another new bottle now, though, and was wondering what people in this forum think would be good?

To give you an idea of what I like, my go to whiskies are heavy/dense/smoky/peaty scotches and equally dense bourbons. I would probably put these down as my top 10:

- Laphroaig Cairdeas 2013 Port Wood Edition

- Laphroaig Quarter Cask

- Bunnahabhain 12

- William Larue Weller

- Ardbeg Uigeadail

- Aberlour A'bunadh

- Willett Single Barrel Rye

- Talisker Distiller's Edition

- Lagavulin 16

- something either Caol Ila or Springbank

So what am I missing? What do I need in my life? Is there anything you have been wanting to get lately but haven't yet pulled the trigger on?

Longrow is good stuff.

I also recently opened my English Whisky Company Peated and me and my fellow peatheads really enjoyed it (it's mellower on the smoke, like a Caol Ila).

Talisker is also one of my perennial favorites.

Are you looking for affordable scotches you're missing?

As for Bourbons:

* High West Distillery

- Campfire (smokey)

- American Prairie Reserve

- Midwinter Night's Dram

- Double Rye

* Booker's Bourbon

* Whistle Pig (pick any of them)

Some great and affordable to me:

Glendronach 12 and 15 most of the days.

Bruichladdich The Laddy 10 for the Partagas night.

Some Blended Monkey Shoulders if undecided at times.

For me its Macallan 18yr all day! Looking at your line up, it isnt really in your wheel house. You seem to love the big bold scotch's, i prefer the smoother Speyside myself.

If you are looking for a change up, this is a must try, truly specatular

I've had Longrow once but I forget which one. The Campletown's are an odd bunch but I think they're going on me. And the Caol Ila comparison sounds good to me . . . that was my first favorite. I was sadly a little disappointed with Talisker 10, but oh boy...the Distiller's Edition is one of the best sherry finishes I think I've had in a scotch!

Recommend the Bowmore as above seeing as your an Islay fan

you are naming ten whiskies and asking what you are missing. Well all of the other whiskies people like that are not in your top 10. So literally zillions. Not quite sure how this thread will get you very far.

Better off just narrowing your question. E.g. i like natural colour Islays but not too peaty. I have tried XYZ any suggestions?

Otherwise we are not going to get very far imho.
