How much of a difference does the manufacture year make?

Would you pick a 2010 box over a 2012? or over 2014?

If so, why?

And if so, would it be worth a premium?

I've never had anything older than a year, which is why I'm wondering.

Is it possible for a younger box to be better than an older one and if so how do you know?

With proper aging (stable and constant temp/rh) 2 years could do a lot. Even less time.

I personally would not pick up 2010,12 boxes at the moment, just because I have already stock-piled cigars from those years. But still could happen with specific cigars what I know glorious from a year. (E.g: H.Upmann conni 1 PLM may 11)

2012 is just 2 years behind us. It is not falling into aged and premium category. From '12 you can still have wide range of reg production cigars with no extra fees. 5+ years however where it starts really.

Worth the premium or not? Personal and subjective. You have to know yourself first of all. You gotta try aged and vintage cigars to figure out how much you like it and worth to buy or not. And of course you can start stock-pile boxes to age yourself. Pay the reg price now, be patiente and 5 years later you will have aged cigars with no extra cost. (Note that you need good envirement for proper aging)

I would buy and pay extra for specific cigars I like aged. (5-10yrs)

But the fact that I buy lot more cigars than I smoke right now leads me to aging without really planing. (This is happening with at least 50% of the folks here, hehe)

There are cigars on the market what smokes brilliant young and fresh. Requires less or no age at all to shine. Some cigars won't change to much with long time aging almost pointless to put them down for years.

Smoke what you like. You don't really know how it will change and which one you prefer unless you try loads of fresh and aged cigars as well.

This is all the fun parts in cigars. Go over things, try different things, do your own journey, experiment with it and you will be able to answer all the questions out of your own experiences.

Note that this is my own opinion and it may and will differ with different folks.

This Is exactly what I think, I'm not one that Is used to ageing but now, I don't have much of a choise. If I want aged,I order It.

You have to do your own experimention on what you like yourself. I find that some of the Young cigars don't need that much age.

Cigars made in late 2012 to 2013 seems to be better than previous few years, and that's one of the reasons why so many CCs smoking great ROTT these days.
