Webbo Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I have been generously given a beautiful looking box of SLR Regios from a friend returning from Cuba, the box code is MAY 14 and wonder if they are ok to smoke. I realise the easiest way is to just try one of course but at only 3 months old surely these are too young? I keep reading of certain CCs that are great ROTT but just when is a cigar too young?
potpest Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 The only way to find out is to try them. I've got Feb 14 boxes which smoke amazingly smooth and I've got others of a similar age which are harsh as hell. I've heard the 14 regios are great fresh, but one box can be completely different to another even with the same date and factory code.
anjimj Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Regios are usually tasty fresh and usually dried fruit tasty. Check out the threads as you will hear that a lot from the BOTL.

Rye Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I prefer Regios fresh vs aged. They are a very consistent cigar and I've had near perfect track record with them. The strength and intensity of flavours does tend to settle a bit once they start getting some age, and I find that's what I'm missing most when smoking aged examples. Light one up and see what you think!

CUBANO Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Smoke one, if you don't like it then put them in the humidor and try them again in 6 months.
Laxman Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 What is the secret to being disciplined and allowing the cigars to age without smoking them? Buy two boxes or more of the cigars you love. Use one to smoke an the other/others to put down. Repeat this a few times every month and you will have more then enough cigars to age as you will not be able to smoke them all. 2
