JHands Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Was wondering what year was better for rascc, 2012 or 2013? Any hot box codes from those years? Any to stay away from?
garbandz Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 MUR 12......several different months.........extraordinary......... Rass from 13 for me have been young tasting........ in fact every thing I have gotten with MUR has been very good,no losers yet........ 1
Rye Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Usually with RASCC, It doesn't matter to me at all. I've bought many blind, and had them picked, every box has been good, but expect one or two plugged sticks. These have been a "can't go wrong" cigar for me. I look forward to this winter so I can dip I to my most recent box 2

It is wholly and unequivocally uncomfortable trying to smoke a cigar on your windless porch at 90+ degrees Fahrenheit and 80%+ humidity unless you're utterly naked. I know to most people winter means busting out the minutos, PCs, etc. To me, it just means having a cigar at all and not dying of heat exhaustion halfway through, wondering if the Bolivar Belicosos Finos was really worth it or not . . ..
wookiemofo Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Yeah I can't wait for MN winters where it's 20 below with 40 below windchills... Sitting on a bucket in the middle of a frozen lake with a fishing pole in one hand and a gar in the other 1
mikek Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I cant wait for fall,it's been so hot here! I smoke inside though!
earthson Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 MUR 12......several different months.........extraordinary......... Rass from 13 for me have been young tasting........ in fact every thing I have gotten with MUR has been very good,no losers yet........ I'll second this - working through boxes of RASCC and RASS from MUR 12. It was a good factory with great QC. If you are new to the marca, I would suggest letting these guys sit for a while. RASCC 1-2 years from box date and RASS 2-4 years. RA young are a waste of time! 1

Being a Michigan yankee now living in Tennessee, I know exactly what you're talking about! This summer has been a godsend, but most years, I'm smoking the same cigars in the heat of summer as I am in the dead of winter! Fortunately, I'm a sucker for minutos and PCs anyway!
JHands Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 And does anyone know how the MUR RASS were in 2013?
mikek Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I'm smokeing A box of 2013 so far so good! This is my second box from that year!
wookiemofo Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I second the MUR 13, we have a box in the way!
subport Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I have ULA dic 13 boxes. Don't like them at the moment. Great quality no doubt but for me need more time on the road. Personal taste matters.
JHands Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 I second the MUR 13, we have a box in the way! That rascc or RASS?
SteveGriff Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I have a '13 box bought blind from a different vendor. Magical, full and tasty. The seven or eight boxes I've purchased have over the last few years have all been great. My favourite short smoke.
wookiemofo Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 That rascc or RASS? RASS, MUR OCT 13. I plan on letting them sit until next summer regardless, will probably smoke one ROTT though.
wookiemofo Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 And now i realize this thread is about RASCC. I'll be leaving now
earthson Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 And does anyone know how the MUR RASS were in 2013? Too early to tell. I'm guessing they're harsh and fairly flavorless with a crooked burn.
wookiemofo Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Too early to tell. I'm guessing they're harsh and fairly flavorless with a crooked burn. Because they are green?
wookiemofo Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I left, then I decided to come back. Might leave again soon tough, we'll see how this green question is answered... it does pertain to RASS so that allows me to hang out a little longer.
wookiemofo Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Currently smoking mur jun 13. Marvelous! RASCC OR RASS?
earthson Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Because they are green? Yes! I've been smoking RASS since 2008 and this has been my experience - they're simply awful when <1 year from box code, but there's some sort of magic that happens at some point. If you're looking to dive into the RA brand, I'd recommend either the Superiores or the RASCC - both tend to be nice after a year. I honestly don't have the space or patience to see what 5 years or beyond would do for them!
SofaKing Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 RASS, MUR OCT 13. I plan on letting them sit until next summer regardless, will probably smoke one ROTT though. I have that same box/ month and probably from same vendor, they are good but still need time .
