I recieved an email from Cigar Snob magazine notifying me of receipt of my subscription renewal. The problem is that I did not renew !! Be advised there may be an automatic renewal clause burried in the terms of a 1 year subsciption. I'm not sure of this but it seems a likely possibility.

I sent them 3 emails and tried to contact them thru their website to no avail. I never heard back from them at all. As a last resort, I contacted my credit card company to dispute the charge and block them from subsequent charges. I still haven't heard back from them. ( CigarSnob)

To their credit, the magazine was ok. Nice looking ladies, but nothing about CC's at all. I had no interest in continuing with them.

The point of all this is be aware of any subscription. It may have an automatic renewal clause.

They tried the same thing to me. I had subscribed on magazines.com and I had renewed my credit card with a new number. About a year later I started getting emails saying they weren't able to run my card. I never responded and they gave up lol.

So you paid for a subscription, never received an issue and never followed that up? I'd be asking for my money back on principle.

That sucks man. Sounds like they live up to their name!

had the same thing from national geographic. but this happened after i signed up. they then told me it would be automatic unless i contacted them. not what i signed up for. that, and the fact that what they charged was more than three times the advertised amount (in fairness to them, if one went through the tiny tiny fine print well away from the actual offer, there was mention of the 'other' amount) was enough to put me right off. told them to cancel immediately. they were okay about it and to their credit said i could keep any mags that may actually arrive.

disappointing as i grew up with nat geog, we still have some from my grandfather that go back as far as the 1920s and 1930s, and i was keen to subscribe. i expected better.

i remember looking through the old ones once, and this will surprise brizzy folk, i came across a full, big article on the glorious bougainvillea gardens of brisbane. world famous. i'd never heard of them. turns out that not only were they very famous at the time, but they were at indooroopilly. not only that, they were actually the overground, untended mess of a garden next to the local golf club that i used to sneak through to get home from the bus stop. not sure who was supposed to look after them - the council, i suppose - but they had been left to nature. no idea if they still exist.

I got bitten by that with the CA digital service

When the uproar here happened with CA I signed up to read the editorial I thought had knocked Robs service (turns out it was on the forum) but it was only $20 for 3 issues so I didnt really mind all that much.

After the 6 months was up they sent me an email to renue that I ignored not realising that it was asking me if i wanted to opt out, so now I'm signed up for another $20 and 6 months.

Not a great deal of money, and I do digitaly thumb through the issues I'm sent but I wont be renuing at again

It was one of those things I kept meaning to get to but never did, I'd remember I needed to do it when I saw the new print issue at my local B&M but then would get sidetracked with eveything else in life.

The mag itself has some nice "scenery" and decent articles and isn't snobby at all compared to the other big cigar mag. Too bad for them they can't take care of the business side.
