5th annual FOH Fantasy Football League - forming now

Recommended Posts

Football time is coming again, and it's time to set up our Friends of Habanos fantasy football league again. My own favorite Fantasy Football team, the Drunken Monkeys, won the league last year.

Anyone who would be interested in playing fantasy football with us is welcome. If you're interested, just respond to this thread, or send me a PM if you'd prefer. Here's the basics:

Last year we had a $100 buy-in. But we also had 14 teams last year, which most of us felt was a bit too much. So this year, we're going to try to have two separate leagues, if there are enough people, and we have talked about having different buy-in amounts for the two leagues. So this is tentative, and negotiable, but we have discussed having one be a $150 buy-in (the Cohiba league), and the other a $50 buy-in (Quintero league).

Money is handled by LeagueSafe, which is an escrow service for fantasy games and pools, etc. The league itself is hosted on ESPN.com. Draft will be a live online draft, and we will find a time and date that works for everyone once we have established who's in the league(s). Prizes are distributed from LeagueSafe in cash to the winners, but of course this is the FOH Fantasy Football League, and so winners should use their winnings to buy cigars from our favorite cigar vendor.

So if you're interested in playing, or are interested in thinking about playing, or have any questions, either reply below, or send me a PM.

I am interested.. If there is room would it be possible for my wife to have a team as well? She has wanted to play against me in a money league.

If that isn't possible I understand.

I don't see why it would be a problem.

Then we are definitely interested. We are open to be in either league as long at it is the same one for both of us.

Although, I should probably say the $50 because the highest I have ever finished was third. Also, the last two years running the top two RB's I had have been hurt for multiple games. unknown.gif

It is always fun so giving my money away doesn't hurt as much.

She just thinks it will be funny to beat me because of how unlucky and bad I am at the same time.... lol

ETA: I had Peyton Manning in one league last year and I finished 7th. That's right..... 7th.....

can you put down the list of users and how much they are willing to pay so that we can see what the numbers are like?

I am also interested in the $150

Apologies, cns, I've been crazy busy the last few days and so I need to catch up, do some PM's, etc. to figure out exactly where we are. I'll post numbers tonight. It looks like we have enough for both leagues to go, though.

Will be fun to watch! I'm not much for American football but I always enjoy the fanfare.

Ok guys, here's where we stand:

8 in the Cohiba league

8 in the Quintero league

5 willing to do either one

3 who haven't given their preference yet.

I think this means we can have 12 in each league as it stands now, which is perfect. Once we get it all sorted out, I'll start an email discussion with each league to get everyone registered on ESPN and LeagueSafe, and start talking about draft dates/times.

If there's anyone else who would like to play, do let me know, in case anyone can't do it for some reason. We need to have an even number in each league, so having backups ready can save the day. Also, anyone willing to play in both leagues in a pinch, let me know that. We have one guy already willing to do that, which is really helpful (thanks, John).

My wife said she would have a slight preference towards the cheaper league for us. She hasn't played all that much and basically told me she has no confidence in me whatsoever to even make the playoffs.. loser.gif

It wouldn't be a deal breaker though either way.
