Reading this almost puts me off smoking a cigar

The cigar is not at fault mate… It is ignorance and the perpetuation of bad data and junk science. Some of these ideas are passed around by well meaning individuals trying to help, many don't know any better.

I think vendors should explain their products better but it is not entirely their fault.

Many customers simply don't want to know… They would prefer to believe! Having extensive experience with mortgage banking I know that customers would rather get a lower interest rate on day one, than know the facts about the long term performance of a loan. You can tell them till you are blue in the face that the product has extreme risks and they will take it anyway because it has a low start rate!!! They prefer to hope and believe than assess and understand!

This has as much to do with the nature of the consumer as the nature of the vendor. People are the same regardless of which side of the fence they reside!!!

Smoke that cigar… Cheers -Piggy

Bless you Piggy, I always enjoy reading your posts.

I smoked a Ramon Allones Extra a couple of days ago, it far exceeded the previous smokes from the same box. My first thought was, "Man, these are really starting to come around." Second thought was, "Perhaps this is a better cigar than the other ones in the box" and third thought was, "Maybe my conditions of smoking or my expectations are different"

I'm learning, slowly!

Anyway, thread drift violation innocent.gif

I have used HF beads in a cooler for 6 years 70% style and I have definitely notice the changes as the temp does.

I have not gotten a rock solid RH people speak of. Until I can afford better I will make do.

I had a coolidor that was subject to some pretty bad temperature swings for a while. Humidified it with Boveda's (65rH) and both hygrometers would register a swing of about +/- 2% rH over the 25F temperature swing that I was seeing. Yeah I know, spank me for letting the temps do that, but y'all know I get curious about this stuff.

I fully expected much bigger rH swings over the temperature range, and was quite mystified that this was all I saw. Put the box back in temperature control and stopped puzzling over it.

Wish the Bovedas/Heartfelts etc. would publish a temperature vs. target rH graph with their products. It should be simple enough for a lab to gather and plot that sort of empirical data.

Were your cigars soggy? If your temp was going up by 25 degrees (for instance, from 70 to 95), and the rH stayed nearly the same, that would mean a lot more water in your humi...
