Ryan Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I like these stories, uilleann (pronounced "illin") pipes getting popular with some Cuban musicians. I'm always impressed with quality I hear in musicians every time I go to Cuba. http://www.thejournal.ie/cuba-uilleann-pipes-1433102-Apr2014/ For comparison, here's one of my favourite tunes. Davy Spillane playing Caoineadh Cu Culainn (Cu Culainn's tears) 1
TiminBC Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 In Cape Breton every year in October there is a Celtic music festival. http://www.celtic-colours.com/ The year I attended the focus was Irish music. The venues are all small and allot of churches where the acoustics are very good. If Celtic music is your things the festival is a must. The fall color there is pretty fantastic. The selection of cigars is shall we say limited compared to Cuba. I also attended the Havana international Jazz festival a few years back and found it amazing. 1
Chelsea8 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Saw a friend of mine in one of the photos in the report. She actually plays in an Irish band in Singapore and had gone back to Cuba for a holiday. 1
