I am too much a pessimist to be a gambler, besides I seem to have other vices to compensate, but did you consider that it might have been a sign that it was time to take your winnings and run? Like I said I'm no gambler so what do I know ;)

i'm curious. wre there

So I went to the casino after work, and sat down at the blackjack table. I won the majority of my hands for the first 10 minutes there, and then decided to light up a cigar. This is one of the only casinos in the area that allows cigar smoking at the tables. A lot of other ones have cigar lounges etc. A couple hands after I light the cigar a guy with an oxygen tank sits down at the seat next to me. Typically I'd just get up and go to another table, but I was on a heater.

What would you guys do?

I ended up letting it go out in the ashtray.

i'm curious. were there other seats nearby and at other tables? was it obvious you were smoking? i mean, could he clearly see you were smoking and then chose to sit next to you when he had other options?

if so, i'd have kept smoking it.

if you think he might not have seen it and there were not too many other seats around then i'd have been inclined to let it die.

Without a doubt I would have kept smoking my cigar. The other fellow chose to come into a smoke-friendly casino, just as you did. He knew what he was doing, presumably. If he didn't like it, he could have found another table. At the very least I would have said "I hope you don't mind my cigar smoke" and kept puffing away.

Cheers,

Greg

I don't know if he realized it or not. There were other seats at other tables. Hard to say though. The guy was like 80 it's not that big of a deal that I let it go out I mean it's a cigar and the guy is 80. I try to respect older people and regardless of whether he noticed it or not when he sat down I'm cool with putting it out. Yeah I started losing after the cigar was put out, but I'm not that superstitious. I won't get up when a table gets hot, but I don't put on a pair of winning socks before I go to the table or anything.

In all fairness the masks are positive pressure and keep the surrounding atmosphere out. He would have been getting more oxygen than you haha I know sitting in the Vegas casinos I had sore lungs at the end of an 8 hour table shift and I wasn't smoking! He would have been fine.... the only oxygen risk would be at the tip of the cigar, oxygen itself isn't flammable, it just makes burning things burn quicker.

I would ask him if he minds... Some old guy on the tank probly used to be a smoker. Let him reminisce. If he said yes "he minds" I would set it down to be relit after my hot streak.
