kuma Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Folks don't look now but what you thought was secure is only a figment of your imagination. Looks like the encryption SSL standard has a very BIG flaw in it. This flaw could allow hackers to access encrypted data ONLINE. User Names, Pass Words, Credit Card Numbers, Soc. Sec. Numbers and a whole host of other sensitive info look ripe for the pickings. From what I have already read, once a company, goverment, etc, etc, roll out new security measures (software) all paswords, user names, etc, ect, will have to be changed and updated. Just when I thought it was safe to play on the internet the bums found a way to rain on my parade.
dafrey23 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 It doesn't affect all forms of SSL. And no one should change passwords until the affected sites do their upgrades as your password could just be stolen again. Still, i know it's a big problem when my parents know about it and are asking me what to do. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
CaptainQuintero Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Isn't the flaw 2 years old already though? It's only now that it's being published in the mainstream media? Just what I read I keep all my krugerrands in hollowed out carrots anyway. I was telling the wife it was a good investment over dinner just after she had loaded the last of our unwanted winter veg on to the garbage truck .....wait 2
Pedro2486 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Do you mean the flaws besides the ones the NSA had built in? 1
kuma Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 I'm not saying to change anything now this was just ment as a "heads up" and to be aware of what could be coming down the pike.
ptrthgr8 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 You need to cite sources. Otherwise it just sounds like internet tinhattery. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
Guyman1966 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 To avoid fraud, I have two checking accounts with the same bank. One that takes my direct deposit check. I pay all my bills out of that one. The other is a spending account where I put money in before I use it. Gas, ATM, grocery, on-line purchases… anything that can be hacked. So there is never a ton of money in that account. If anyone get’s access it will not effect my main account.

ptrthgr8 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Unfortunately your tinfoil hat won't save you from this. It's very real: https://www.openssl.org/news/secadv_20140407.txt http://lmgtfy.com/?q=news%3Aheart+bleed So, actually, shortly after I posted the story ran on the nightly news. Afterwards I did look it up to learn more about it. I hadn't heard anything about it all day (which is odd considering where I work), so I was assuming the OP was just another ermagerd!!! tinfoil hatter since no sources were cited. When someone says the sky is falling, I generally don't look into what they're saying if they didn't bother to include supporting info along the way. And the LMGTFY link. Classy. Or smarmy. Whatever. http://tinyurl.com/22npw3q Cheers, ~ Greg ~
