Croz71
Hello fellow FOH's I've only been smoking cigars for 3 years and have learnt so much from this site. After a lot of reading about humidity, I've been dry boxing my cigars for sometime now. I find my sticks smoke so much better at 60%. After more reading, I've now decided to go with Piggy's theory of storing my smokes, at the humidity I like to smoke them. I've lowered my wine fridges to 60-62%. So I've stopped dry boxing. I live in Perth, Western Australia so it's summer here. My question to you all is about temperature effect on humidity. My wine fridges sit at 63f and 62%. The temp in my house is around 85f and outside where I smoke can get to 100f easily. What effect is this big jump in temp having on my cigars? Should I go back to dry boxing just for temperature purposes? Thank you for any help Allan
shlomo
run a search here or on google and you will see that relative humidity, is in fact relative to temp. there tends to be an inverse relationship between the two. lots of good reading out there. hope you store your sticks in a much cooler enviro. Croz71
Thanks for reply Shlomo. I don't think I explained my question very well. I understand that temp is relevant to humidity. My sticks are stored at 63f in wine fridge. Where I smoke is between 80-100f Do yoy think this big jump in temp is having a negative impact on my sticks? Ginseng
This is the case in the summer here in the region of the States where I live. If the outside is hot and dry (90F, 60%), no problem. If the outside is hot and humid (90F, 80%), experience burn issues potentially If the outside is hot and dripping (90F, 90+%), don't even bother smoking as it will suck, or if you do, stick to shorter sticks. This gives them less of an opportunity to get really damp from the air and turn mega nasty. Wilkey

Ginseng
Oooh, maybe try a water dip before you go out then. Perhaps an Arizona or Nevada member can add their experience. Wilkey
