When I left the Gabba at stumps on day 1 a month and a half ago, winning 5 zip would have been the last thing I thought was possible! It proves i think how much the game is played between the ears.

i left the gabba that day when we were 5 for bugger all so even more unlikely.

a truly amazing turnaround, from both sides. have never seen a side collapse so badly mentally - even when thommo and lillee caused havoc mid 70's.

i said during the england ashes series that i thought cook was a dud captain (ye, i'm sure he is a nice bloke) and that was the one (and only) area we were streets ahead. this series proved it. cook is an utterly clueless leader. clarke, as a captain, ranks with ian chappell as our best. it all stemmed from that.

my fave quote came from the guardian - "only 3 teams in history have played a 5 test series with an unchanged line-up, but the current Australian team towers over the other two in that respect as the only team to ever have achieved that feat with George Bailey in the line-up.".

as for south africa, we'll find out. 2 months ago, would have given no chance but this is a team with confidence and a top bowling attack. losing kailis is a massive blow and if de V not fit, another. and smith has real problems with johnson. our batting will need to stand up.

remember that we have not lost a series in south africa since pre apartheid.

should be a far closer series than this thrashing.
