odd beer recommendations - Not really beer, but I've heard that Bluetongue alcoholic ginger beer is pretty good

Best Beer- Monteiths Summer Blonde/Black Macs (both NZ)+ anything from Belgium

Worst Beer- Anything warm, but VB & Fosters are not good

Odd Beer recommendations- Leffe Blonde (Belgium) tastes of strawberry

My best beer is not local, but of the Aussie beers I like, James Squire are pretty good, as are Little Creatures from W.A.

Best beer - Goose Island Honker's Ale (can't get it here in NJ, but loved it when I was out in Chicago over the summer)

Worst beer - Miller lite -I wouldn't give this to my cat, and he'll drink anything

Odd beer - anything by Magic Hat, I can't tell you what's in these, but they're usually pretty good

is you best beer a local brew? No, but Flying Fish out of Cherry Hill makes a mighty fine ESB

Sometimes I reach for a Belgian Blue Moon microbrew, very light, orange, spicy finish. Very good...

No, the only local brew I like is called Shiner Bock, but I can't get in Florida. Used to love drinking it in Texas.....

Best Beer : Guinness (by far)

Worst Beer : Carlsberg

Odd Beer : Highly recommend the Red Oak Choc Cherry Stout. Tastes like liquid cherry ripe!

I do a bit of home brewing and like to experiment a little by adding fruit and grains. Have had a couple of dodgy brews but I feed them to my in-laws

Now we're talking. Call me a reprobrate but I prefer to drink beer with cigars. But to pick one overall 'best' is too hard. Like a cigar, it depends on the occasion and the weather and you're mood.

Best Wheatbeer: Weihenstaphener Weisbier Dunkel (dark german)

Best Pale Ale: Little Creatures (Fremantle, Australia)

Best Belgium: Chimay Blue

Best Irish Ale: Kilkenney

Best Brown Ale: Newcastle Brown Ale

Best Aussie Ale: Coopers Sparkling

Best Aussie Stout: Coopers Best Extra

Worst beer: West End (SA)

For those overseas, XXXX is an actual brand. They called it XXXX because it was assumed that most of us n the state of Queensland could not spell BEER.

Bill, Coopers Best Extra Stout only just missed out on my list. If you get a chance try the Best Extra that is aged 6 months before bottling. I think it is called Old Best Extra Stout (has a brown label). Hard to find but worth it if a stout fan.

is you best beer a local brew? - I love XXXX Gold/Carlton Mid/Cascade Light, there my local favourites.

If anyone has had a TSING TAO you will know how good it is. I enjoyed a couple of years ago the Brisbane International Beer Festival at the RNA, that was a big night. The chocolate beer and Chili Beer were a little on the scary side.

Had Tsing Tao in China a couple of years ago. Not a bad beer but stick to the export variety. The locallly brewed stuff tended to be a little inconsistent
