Cohiba Stevie
So its a lazy saturday here in ireland and im in the garden (hoping the rain holds off) enjoying a sublime cohiba siglo ii. I am thumbing through the latest issue of CA and among the countless gawdy ads for NCs i come across one for the NC Montecristo brand. It seems the bands on them closely imitate the new ones destined for new cuban montecristos like the double edmundo. It has the gold leaf and and the brown part has a slight sheen. The only difference being that the loop of the band is thinner... I thought there were strict rules imposed for NC versions of cuban marcas in that their packaging and presentation must be different? Think of the dominican cohiba... As i mentioned in the montecristo DE thread i couldnt give a toss about bands. But this just had me curious. Thoughts? CaptainQuintero
I think the NC companies can do what they want, any trademark issue would go through a biased US court so Cuban interests will always loose It seems strange for Cuba to purposely go out of their way to copy a NC take on the monte bands though
Colt45
Altadis (Imperial) owns both. (and remember, the true owner left Cuba after nationalization )
