MarkofStark Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Hey everyone, new guy here with a couple of questions for those in the know. First, I am Canadian, east coast, so we get some cold winters and with that coming up soon my usual spot to smoke, my deck, is not going to be too hospitable to enjoy a smoke. Now (as far as I know) my area doesnt have a cigar bar or anything, no local online dealers and only a few smoke shops and no real specialists shops. So I figure I will just use my small yet sufficent mancave for a relaxing smoke. Problem is I got 4 kids, 2 of them newborns so I am considering picking up an air purifier for my mancave. Nothing too fancy, figure I'd just grab one designed for medium sized rooms. Does anyone find these work well or is it just a pipe dream of mine to smoke indoors. Second question I currently have a basic distilled water set up in my small 50 count humidor but I picked up a gel (says crystal on it but its clearly a gel) hydration box for it and I was wondering if anyone had any bad experiences with the gel. I figure it just a new evolution of the humidor but just cause its new doesnt mean its good. Thanks all.
Edwhatever Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Most dont like smoking indoors since the smell will linger for a day or two. I personally prefer to smoke indoors even in the summer at times. What I have is a Sharp air purifier+humidifier i picked up at future shop while it was on sale. My new smoking area now has a window generates a good air current, sucjing air out of the room to the outside. This works wonders for me, actung as a natural ventilation for my smoke, keeping me warm in the meantime. Other guys on this forum have many other methods. Either being installing heating in your garage, buying a big fan from walmart to blow smoke out of your window, to even building a tent igloo.
Louich Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Welcome my friend. Where in east Can are you ?

Thanks Ed, do you find with the window and the air purifier handles the smell well, or is it still fairly noticeable. I ask mainly because my oldest's bedroom is down the hall from my cave. Welcome my friend. Where in east Can are you ? Hey Louich, freddy NB here.
Louich Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Likenin Felredo from CCF or we have a new buddy ? ;-)
Marker Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 The gel humidification can get mouldy (sp for my Canadian bretheren) if not watched closely. Be weary of it. Ozone based air purifiers work really well from what a few friends tell me. I have no personal experience with them.
anacostiakat Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I smoke indoors. I use a Whirlpool Whisperair that works for the size room we have. I like to burn a candle in the room to help. I find that Gold Canyon makes some that we like. Not sure if they are available to you where you are at. But, it will not remove the aroma of smoking in the room. My advice there would be to be sure to empty the dead soldiers diligently when done and use some Fabreeze. You could use an ozone generator but need to be careful that nobody is in the room while it is running and to air the room out afterwards.
MarkofStark Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 I don't mind keeping the smell in the room itself as thats my room and I enjoy it . Its more for the sake of the rest of the house. I do keep a couple of fabreeze cans around the house I will have to make sure I have one in the room from now on. I will have to look into an ozone purifier and see what kind of deals I can find. I should be on the hunt on friday. Thanks guys.
Edwhatever Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 If you have a man cave then I would say not to worry too much about it with all the above precautions. Lighting a scented candle definitely helps in my experience. Ozone purifiers may be really costly and so just a heads up. The Sharp purifier I have also has an Ion feature that helps too. Theres also an indicator of how polluted the air is. I've tried sneezing beside it, and the indicator instantly turned orange/red. Good luck, whatever you do, keep trying, and you'll make it work!
