joshua84 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Hi All, I will be dropping by Frankfurt this week and was wondering if anyone here could let me know if it is cheaper to buy at the Frankfurt airport or in the city itself? I'm looking for the Sancho Panza Escuderos (Germany Regional Edition). By the way, I would certainly appreciate if anyone could give an indication how much this would cost there. May I say thank you very much in advance. regards, Joshua
Nino Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Well, obviously cigars are cheaper at the airport duty free but you won't find a great or large selection there, just good standards. And you will certainly not find the Regional Edition you are looking for at the airport. As for the price, I guess you're getting that by pm already, otherwise pm me. Joshua : If you are here on Sunday - we will be smoking in the pharmacy, half hour from FRA.
joshua84 Posted July 16, 2013 Author Posted July 16, 2013 Thanks guys. Will hunt around. Nino, thanks but unfortunately I'm flying off this Saturday. Anyway, I'm keen to visit the place called the Cigar Bar near the opera house. Any good comments about that place?
Scdalak Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Nino is correct, I was in Frankfurt Duty Free Recently, and they have just basics, but the quality was on the poor side. Opened Many Boxes to find dull, cracked leaves and wrappers. Below are some pics of the Frankfurt Humi.. Good Luck!

If you will be near the old Opera house, you have a very good store nearby where you can buy the SP Germany - Wolsdorff Tobacco right by the stock exchange ( Börse ) at Schillerstrasse 4 - should you meet the Manager, Mr Gläser, say hello from me : http://www.qype.com/...ankfurt-am-Main As for cigar lounges - my favourite is "Cigarrum" at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof hotel a stone's throw from the old Opera house - voted Germany's best cigar lounge 2010. http://www.gastronom...rankfurt-r36024 The one you mention, "Cigar Bar", opposite the Opera house is also quite good : http://www.cigarbar-....de/index2.html Enjoy

As I recall it is below street level with a catacomb feel. Really good bartender there. Will have to try Cigarrum next time I find myself in Frankfurt.
PartagasIV Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I would skip the Sancho Escuderos for regular production Sancho belis (or anything else). They taste of slightly salted hot air.
canadianbeaver Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Brought home a box of the SP RE's from Munich about 1.5 years ago. Last box after searching many shops and they did nothing for me. Could have been a couple of reasons. Sancho Panza are not my favorite and neither are German RE's. if there are any Spain RE's i would grab those. Enjoy your visit. Frankfurt is supposed to be great! Edit: Matthew, who does the shopping in the Frankfurt DF, says there are a few stores around the airport depending on where you are going. He was not at this one. The cigars he has brought for me have always been great.
Scdalak Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Recently? Must be cold in Germany. That guy is still wearing a winter jacket. He was on his way to Siberia...
Drguano Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 He was dressed like a sausage in case the weather took a turn for the wurst.
Drapatrissor Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Was in Frankfurt this past weekend at the F1 race in Hockenheim. Had a few hours in the city to look for cigars. Wolsdorf has renamed/rebranded to Davidoff of Geneva. Selection was quite poor, mostly RyJ. Nothing with any age.. Did not stock any RE. Very nice store and walk-in though. By accident i found Tabakhaus Buttner at Kornmarkt 9. A bit better selection, still a lot of RyJ but also Partagas, HU and HdM. All fresh stock. They had some singles of the RG Petit Pyramid German RE which i brought home
