El Presidente Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 What's up for the weekend? We have a rain depression bearing down on us so I m going to the fish market in the morning and cooking up a couple of days supply of Bouillabaisse followed by a PL Magnum from the 70's. Just in one of those moods I may also cook up a pot of honeycomb tripe with Chorizo, chilli, smoked ham hock etal. Winter here has been a little wetter than normal. Can't fish in the salt (too much fresh running out) and can't fish in the fresh (visibility zero). Time for some great vids and rugging up with someone you love...or found the previous night So three questions? 1. What is your movie of choice for these times. One that you have seen before but always love to pull out from time to time? 2. Your soul food of choice for a wet cold weekend? 3. Your cold weather cigar of choice? Have a cracker of a weekend folks!
Ken Gargett Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 seriously? shouldn't you be posting in "cosmopolitan" or "new idea"?

IF I've got the balls to go outside and smoke a cigar it'll be a little Monte 5 and I'll monster it down so I don't have to be out there for too long
Ken Gargett Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 ken I mean't to include everyone. You can cuddle up to your blow up doll of choice (ken has a collection that looks like a sitting of the United Nations....all colours of the rainbow) the only blow up dolls here are ones you've left. what has happened to you (yes, fat chance me spilling beans after the last time). you turn up here to do a video wearing a truly extraordinary shirt. it may be the first item of clothing that has ever managed to clash with itself. then decide a video would be all too hard (where is all this hard work we heear about?). so it is a few very enjoyable hours of drinks, smokes and stories (it is not like i had anything better to do, like earn a living). and no video. monday will be fine. and i am really hoping it was you that left me an unspeakable message in he alcohol cupboard - otherwise, i suspect i have a very large python moved it. they really do smell. doors have been jammed to prevent said reptile escaping.

Ken Gargett Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 1. The Good the bad and the Ugly, Tears of the Sun i see tears of the sun is on tonight about 11ish on some channel. never seen it. might have to video it. and rob, re the cold - 8C at 10am at my place the other day. next day it was 5C when i got up. previous winter, i was rushing out one morning and got a mug from the fridge - one of those that dispense ice and water. put it on the bench and forgot it. got home that night and still full of ice. inside the house. means that it surely can't have been above 1C or max 2C at any stage during the day. brizzy can get cold. we had snow in qld a few days ago - not brizzy but cold!
polarbear Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 1- The Boondock Saints 2- Bacon, lots of Bacon 3- PSP2 or Siglo VI
jdo2110 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I love to see el presidente mixing in honeycomb tripe and chorizo. Living in the southwest U.S., I was lucky to be brought up on Mexican food. 1. The Godfather. 1 and 2 back to back 2. A bowl of Menudo, posole, or albondigas is perfect with a side of homemade tortillas. Especially if I've got a stinger from a little too much bending of the elbow fron the night before. 3. Trinidad coloniales. I could have one, watch GF1, then maybe enjoy another. Cold rainy days are infrequent in Phoenix, and I LOVE it when they come. If anyone wants some pointers on Mexican food recipes, I'd love to share. Cooking for family and friends is one of my favorite things to do. My Grandmother has showed me how to cook, and I feel like EVERYONE should get to eat her food!!

kw2662 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Being from Seattle I have road tested this combination a few times. Just remember there are no rules to a knife fight. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Beef Stew with baguette and a stick of butter Bolivar in any form - accessorize with a snifter of vintage Bas Armagnac and you will trounce the cold and rain Cheers, Ken

Dara Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 If anyone wants some pointers on Mexican food recipes, I'd love to share. Cooking for family and friends is one of my favorite things to do. My Grandmother has showed me how to cook, and I feel like EVERYONE should get to eat her food!! Being Irish I'm always looking for good Mexican food.....great flavours with some heat! It's generally always cold by other people's standards here so this is my ultimate lazy night in selection 1. Godfather 1&2 or Ferris Buellers Day Off 2. mushroom risotto (was taught it by my sisters old landlady in Italy) 3. Partagas Lusitania

ARRV Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Seriously it has been raining in Sydney for the past two weeks. I am gathering wood for the ark. Can I just say to my northern hemisphere friends, and I know you won't believe it, but you'll rarely be colder than an Australian house at night in winter. All houses (well most houses) are designed to lose heat. So 8C outside at 2am means 8C inside from 2:30 to 6am. My wife is Swedish and reckons she has never been colder inside a house than Australia. Sweden - 20C inside constantly because they heat. We live under some misapprehension that it doesn't get cold here. Or as my mum always said, "Put another jumper on." Movie- any war movie - preferably WW2 but anything really Food: chorizo pasta , or chicken pesto pasta Cigar: PLPC or any Cohiba in dry box
