Had a chance to try them at a friend's house, fell in love instantly and had to get a set of my own.

Found a reputable seller on Taobao (Chinese Ebay), the cups go for $3-4 CAD a piece depending on size, I'm told that shipping is expensive if shipping directly to North America, fortunately I have a friend in the importing business so I just combined my order with her.

From my experience, the cups work well with a variety of drinks:

-Light beer ex. lagers

-Sake

-Light tea

It adds a subtle sweetness in your choice of drink (think dew drops), feels like a calm morning in the garden after a night of rain.

Last night I decided to experiment a few new drinks with the cups: Granville Island winter ale and Macallan Whisky Master Edition

Positive result on the winter ale, less noticeable than lagers but the difference is still there, tastes fresher and sweeter than drinking from a beer glass. Next time I shall get a bigger sized cup so it could hold the entire can of beer.

Not too lucky with the scotch though, first of all no real difference compared to drinking from my Glencairn glass, also the scotch burns off some of the pulp from the bamboo.

Highly recommend these cups if you're into beer and sake. Remember to store them in cool and dry places for a longer lifespan on the bamboo (freezer works well).

Enjoy!

I have been making things from bamboo lately

(cigar tubes, 20' antenna for the boat, iPhone holder, etc.)

but now I guess I will have to make few cups also!

Bamboo cups sound really interesting. Is there really no solid source for these outside of Chinese eBay?

Awesome! I am going to look for these! I've also seen a lot of bamboo products recently. Have an iPad case, boxes, tabletop, and hopefully someday soon a bamboo humidor desktop, really like the look of those

I suppose I'd want two sets of four. One larger set for beer and one smaller set for scotch or other spirits. If that's something you could craft shoot me a PM and we can work out the details. :)

Cheers,

Greg
