Never seen a piece on Michael Jordan with this kind of access to his life. Surprised at how open he was with the writer.

There was an interview with the writer where he was asked 'what was the coolest thing you saw in his house?' and without hesitation the response was "it's his humidor, if you're a cigar smoker there is some fine stuff in there"

Great article.

"I study him," he says.

When LeBron goes right, he usually drives; when he goes left, he usually shoots a jumper. It has to do with his mechanics and how he loads the ball for release. "So if I have to guard him," Jordan says, "I'm gonna push him left so nine times out of 10, he's gonna shoot a jump shot. If he goes right, he's going to the hole and I can't stop him. So I ain't letting him go right."

When I first read this I thought it sounded like a pretty old scouting report, I love sports analytics and was aware that this was no longer the answer for defending Lebron in 2013

No idea if MJ is right on not, but on that game 1 play, Lebron was only ever going left and only ever going to drive. Noting the vid at the 30 sec mark, he had already caught the ball and begun spinning when George arrives late and to the right. No one home in the paint.

Here's a really good article on the evolution of Lebrons game:

Interesting article. The thing that stands out most for me is a grown man spitting on food to prevent others from eating it. A good article reveals the good AND bad sides of a celebrity.
