JohnnyNorth Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Going to spend a month in Bangkok this june. Where should i navigate to enjoy a cuban cigars?
Surucipe Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 You can try the LCDH which is located in The Oriental Hotel. They have a pretty good selection, but it's certainly not the cheapest place in the world to buy your cigars. The hotel has a very nice terrace by the Chao Phraya river where you can enjoy a cigar. Certainly one of the nicer places in Bkk to enjoy a cigar. Enjoy your stay!
JohnnyNorth Posted April 18, 2013 Author Posted April 18, 2013 Yep, i've heard that the prices are pretty high. Thanks for the tip!
Chelsea8 Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I should be in Bangkok in June too, so will be checking with a few friends to find out where they like to ash their cigars, there. Will post their recommendations. Will likely head over to Hua Hin for a few days, too.
Edwhatever Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 There are at least 8 lounges that you can enjoy a legit cuban cigar in from the PCC. http://www.pacificcigar.com/eng/location/th/stores/shop2.php The highlighted shop at the conrad hotel is called the White Chamber, where their decor is all white. Don't forget you can always buy and take out, find a nice patio or any place outdoors and enjoy your smoke! Hong Kong and Thailand, meccas outside of cuba. Thailand also have some very nice exotic cigar merchandise if you look around. The shop at the Oriental is quite small, but I would def take the cigar outside to their patio facing the river, and enjoy it there I envy you.
Edwhatever Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Sorry but I must add. This restaurant is a must try! not sure about smoking inside the restaurant, but their food is amazing, clean, and superb service. Tip: order a serving of rice and you get unlimited refills, you can choose from jasmine grain, or purple grain. http://www.blueelephant.com/bangkok/ Their "Thai cooking of the past" menu features tradition dishes, "Thai cuisine of today" features mainstream recipes, and "That kitchen of tomorrow" features a modern fusion twist! All three menus have an appetizer, main course, and dessert section. Kind of confusing at first, but it is very interesting! If you arrive early before your dinner, you can have a drink or two at their bar upstairs. Order yourself a pre-dinner coconut!

Having been at "The Blue Elephant" a few months back, I can confirm its outstanding quality - if interested in Thai cooking, they also give cooking classes that are excellent, my wife and I attended one. http://flyingcigar.d...-cooking-class/ But : the Blue Elephant, as all air-con places there is non-smoking. I'd suggest, as has been posted, the open air terrace of The Oriental or, just a stones throw away, the terrace of The Chatrium, where we stayed or just across from The Oriental by boat The Red Argosy Club by the river as well. http://flyingcigar.d...-trip-to-china/ Also fantastic is "The Dome" an open air restaurant & bar located on the top of a skyscraper at the end of Silom Rd near The Oriental, here's a post from my blog on The Oriental, The Dome, Soi Cowboy, countryside, etc : http://flyingcigar.d...to-rose-garden/ For a cold beer & a cigar in a fun spot - try Soi Cowboy .... :-)
Nino Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I would have brought that sign home and framed it. Maybe it found its way to the pharmacy lab ...
MrGinger Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 I am following this thread closely as my wife and I are planning on heading to Thailand for close to a month later in November. Keep the ideas coming
kittipong Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Like Nino said there are plenty of places you can enjoy smoking cigar at night like The Dome, Soi Nana, Soi Cowboy. The Dome is very expensive but worth a try just few drinks and enjoy Bangkok at high rise view. There also many good Thai restuarant for tourist like Baan Khanitha on Sathorn road, The Blue Elephant, Nahm, Sala Rim Nam at The Oriental Hotel and Spice Market at the Four Season hotel. For cigar lounge, I like only few places, a must is The P&L club at The lower lobby of The Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel. This club has wide selection of rare single malt whisky and also hard to find RE cigar like RE from Swiss or Canada. Another one is at Patio of The Muse Hotel at Soi Langsuan on 24 th floor, very nice scenery of Bangkok. Last place I would recommend is Patio of bar at The Ogura Prestige Hotel, like view at The Dome but more cozy. Mind you cuban here is very expensive like in Singapore or Japan. June is start of raining season. Anyway, PM me then we can herf together for few places that I recommended.
CanuckSARTech Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Maybe it found its way to the pharmacy lab ... LOL. Well played, good sir!!! LOL.
semifan1 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 You also have to be wearing pants and a collared shirt to get into the Oriental. I went there to browse the LCDH and this was in August last year so it was hot as hell. I was wearing shorts and got turned away at the door. Forgot to say loved the food in Bangkok the place really comes alive at night.

Afterwards, I wanted to take a cab, so I went to the front door. They even serviced me, wrote me a card to where my destination. I was wearing shorts and sandals. Maybe because it was late at night so they didn't care...

I just chocked it up to lost business for them.
