Just last night, I actually cracked into one of my sleeping boxes of Robusto T's (got a number of these in 12-boxes actually, a nice size to stock up on), and this one was an OUS Jun 2009 box from the original release batch I believe. Just amazing colour and aromas to these right now.

It's just such a shame that these were discontinued, rather than just re-priced. Such a stellar cigar with such nuance.

Hi Keith. I had one of those too. Most of my remaining RobT are from a 24-cab from Czar, AGR MAY 10. Four of the RobEx are from OUR JUN 07, and the Fundadores are OUR JUL 08. I...I just can't... but surely I must! Someday...

I've got 2 boxes of Reyes in the humidor. The Ts didnt do it for me at its price point. I enjoyed it but i thought it was a bit pricey.

Just a discontinued little birdie of some of those sticks, that unfortunately, will disappear as the stocks start to shrivel up. And sadly, there's only a few retailers that still have some of these, at decent pricing (if you could call Trinidad prices decent to begin with, but, that's what their initial downfall was all about, methinks).

Agreed. There was a good discussion on that here a little while ago. It didn't do to go head-to-head with Cohiba on pricing. (Especially for those who prefer Trinidad to Cohiba!) It's a parable of how bad marketing can trump, thump and dump good product. (Not that I'm going on a Trini scrounge. I love 'em, but they ain't the only babe in the 'hood.)

This is pretty much common knowledge, Keith. What I meant was you can certainly find them now if you do a little searching- and at decent prices.

no. robusto t and robusto extra for now. a foolish german rumour started last year saying the entire line was gone, sales spiked obvously, no deletiom of coloniales, fundys or reyes....lol

An accident in communication, no less, yes, but hardly something that someone could/should call "a foolish german rumour", IMO. It's not like H S.A. is always forthcoming in all their communications or information. Unfortunately, a lot about Cuban cigars are trickled-out pieces of information here and there, and mixed messages and miscommunications can and do happen.

I had heard the rumor and the retraction from the German source and was very glad that it wasn't true. I am a fan of Trini's but won't weep too much over the discontinued sticks. I did get pulled into the frenzy and stocked up before I heard that it was much ado about nothing. It forced me to get yet another coolidor started...and now that I have the room, of course I am filling it as fast as the Prez posts specials :-)

Love Fundys and Reyes but have to say I find Colonailes either very good or really under-filled and not much in between. The only danger ultimately is that if you look at the marques that do not have a Robusto they are ones in "danger" = SP, RG & DIP (ok that is a gonner already)

So many of the whole line around... If you have extra space and money there is no excuse not to stock up... T's have not progressed as well as I thought ... I still get the feeling in 5 plus years I will be pissed I did not buy more! Reyes are still amongst the best PC out there.

I'm finding that the early-/mid-2009 T's, the ones that are just a shade or so darker, and oilier, than the 2010 and 2011 T's, are just that much better and therefore very worthwhile. The extra bit of time on them definitely helps too. But the 2009's that I've now been having compared to other years are just so much better.

Can see the difference in shades in my pic - compare the '09 Robusto Extras and '08 Fundadores with the '10 Ts. (I've always liked the Extras best.) And certainly, age makes a fine difference. No, the story remains the same: good product stymied by wrong-headed marketing.

My Ts from Jun 09 were stellar in 2010, entered a sick period in 2011 and are now good again. Unfortunately only perhaps 2 cigars left from that batch.

Due to the fundys also being diplomatic gifts, along with the Cohibas, I guess HSA thought that they could put a premium price on them and make the extra coins. However, since the November 2012 price increases, in Cuba LCDHs, were generally substantial (about 30%) for Cohiba and fairly small (less than 10% and closer to 6%) for Trinis, the price gap is now large enough for Trinis to no longer be considered in Cohiba territory.
