Got back last night and had a great time.Stayed at Riu Palace Punta Cana. Great resort and beach. Went on the Don Lucas cigar tour and had fun. They pick you up at the resort and drive about half hour. They ask you what you usually smoke and give you a free sample of one of there products that would be comparable.

I was thinking Cohiba Genio so I was given a dark wrapper robusto....not bad. After the tour of course it was up to the humidor where we sample some Dominican rum called Black Rum, smooth and sweet, more like a liquor to us, we bought a bottle and a couple variety 10 packs of sticks. They had some Cubans, can't say if they are legit but I couldn't find any problems with them and in all my research have heard they sell legit Cubans. They also have a chocolate shop and knickknacks for the lady's so everyone's happy. Afterwords we sat outside with a smoke and A cold beer until we were ready to return to the resort.

Other than that there is a shop on the resort grounds, pretty nice shop but prices were 3 times what they should be. We did buy a few Dominicans in the gift shop, prices were a lot better. I brought my own CCs down so didn't bother much with them.

The rest of the trip was your basic week on the beach in paradise-no complaints but with the 5-6 hr plane ride and the fact that there's nothing off resort to do without a 15-20 taxi ride I'll stick to my favorite resort town of Playa Del Carmen. I'll add a couple of pics. I'm not in either. The first is some of our group by the pool and the second....is the highlight of my trip.

Was down in PC last October ,did the same tour and smoked the same cigar, enjoyed both.As you said the prices of cigars up in the humidor were out of this world .Even for here in Canada.

Did you happen to try the Mummawana( the rum poured over the tree bark in the bottle)

Heading to Mexico ,Playa Del Carmen area for the first time. Any suggestions on must see and do's in the area ?

Yes, had a little Mammawanna but didn't get to carried away.Did get carried away with beer, rum,Mojitos ect. Where are you staying Playa?

First thing is to stop by Rushmans shop. I believe it's on 5 th ave just past constitution walking north on the left hand side. If your lucky he will be in town, he's about the most hospitable guy you'll ever meet. But now he's got a real job so he probably won't be there.Give him a shout he's a member of this board. Take the ferry to Cozumel, walk straight in from the dock and on the left hand side visit the LCDH. They have a good restaurant also so you can have drinks,smokes,lunch...what ever. Then bum around the area, the girls can shop, you can have beers. If you are snorkelers this is the place to go.Jump in a cab out to the state park I believe it's called Chaulknaub. You can rent all the gear.If you ever wanted to go scuba diving you might try that. They only bring you down 25 ft if your a beginner. Back in Playa anytime your board walk up and down 5 th ave. It's a miles of shops, bars, restaurants. You could also take a day trip into Cancun and visit the LCDH. I hear a lot of good things about it. I've never been there.Other than that they have all kind of good things to do.Zipline, water parks, visiting the ruins ect. We're not into those things but everyone who does them has a good time. Feel free to ask any questions. Have fun!

I've been buying Presidente online for years and sending monthly emails to the distributors around here begging them to carry it.

Where is it avail. in Houston?

It's available at the grocery chain I work for HEB only in six packs for now. If you set a date for the BBQ that works for me I'll bring you some.

Si señor. Usually Leo is there during the day and my wife Laura alternates evenings with Alex. Tell any of them you know me and they will give you the FOH hookup. If they don't, PM me your address and I will.

Wish I was there. This employment thing sucks!
