CaptainQuintero Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 We all know what travesties have been committed with greats being wiped out and the overall raping of the habanos catalogue, but what cigars leave you speechless by still being rolled while other greats have been cut and dropped? Personally: -Punch Punch, especially when you consider that this was decided to be the single best CG of the Punch line when deletions were being decided, worth of being kept alive above all others... Come to think of it, it makes you wonder if they got the 'to be deleted' list for Punch mixed up with the 'keep' Cut the wheat and leave the chaff! -Guantanamera, seriously? Delete most of the great machine mades such as the mille fleurs etc from the marcas and leave a whole marca of machine made crap?! -RyJ exhibition 3 and 4, not for any strong reason apart from does any retailer actually sell any? -Cuaba...all of them. I know some people like them and that's completely fine, each to their own, but how any single Cuaba never mind a whole marca could be kept ahead of some of the cut legends from Partagas. ERDM, RA, LGC, Diplomaticos etc is just beyond me. I don't even see how sales could account for the decision! -RyJ Belicosos, what am absolute stunner of a failure! Somehow managing to combine both flavourless and acrid into a windtunnel or tent peg depending on your luck of the draw.
Charltonc Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I have enjoyed some RyJ exhibion no. 4 but from years past. I had good luck with 98 -05. Cut Cuaba.
tydra Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Monte Opens, All of the RyJs, all the new ultra thick, ultra short (ultra expensive) cigars.
Pilgrims Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 All Cuaba can go....the shpae and sizes could be occasional LE / RE's for other brands if needed at all
cottierm Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 The whole series of Monte Open for me but again everything depends on personal taste. Shlomo does not like the whole SP brand while I tend to like it very much (although and unfortunately the brand has been trimmed down to its extreme). You don't like R&J Exhibicion no. 3, while I love it, and so on. Best, Michel
bassman Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I love & buy the RyJ EX#3. Needs a few years, but top notch corona gorda. Loving the 06s. Same with Cuaba Exclusivos. 02s are divine.
cigcars Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Unless I'm wrong about its' still being around - the Fonseca Cosacos. Zero flavor or enjoyment IMHO. Would actually choose a Guantanamera or Monte Open to one of those Really.
Cohiba Stevie Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Bit harsh on the cubas there... I know they arent for everybody, but axe the whole line? A bit strong. I think montecristo as a marca could be condensed a bit, i think the marca has ridden the popularity wagon for a long time and has expaned too much. Although not as popular, the whole catalogue of RyJ that are still in reg production is mind boggling. Im also surprised sancho panza havent came under the axe, but also very glad.
