BostonJRay Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Hey guys, Wondering if theres anywhere I shouldnt miss in Miami? Cigar shops/factories, Restaurants, etc. I'll be there with a co-worker Monday night to Thursday night, staying at the Hyatt. I dont think we're renting a car so we likely wont stray too far down from downtown. Is Little Havana worth a visit? thanks
Charltonc Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I have always enjoyed myself in little havana. The cigar bar scene in Miami is somewhat week. I like going to the Padron store, getting some cuban coffee, cuban sandwich, and some pastries. I am generally underwhelmed with the cigar selection. Don Pepin garcia has a lounge in little havana now, if you are in the mood for a pepper stick.
ohioldd Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Funny you should ask...since I am currently sitting on South Beach staring at plastic. So far I have had a hearty breakfast at The Front Porch Cafe and dinner at Otentic which is a French restaurant. Both were good but Otentic was magnifique.
Hubba Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Pop over to Doral and check out the My Father Cigar headquarters. Nice lounge and humidor. I stopped in last march and caught Jose Ortega in the building, first thing he did was light me a cigar out of his desk humidor then he gave me the full guided tour of the premises, really cool.
ohioldd Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Padron is cool to see and get some stuff, although fairly pricey. Calle Ocho is not a "must-see" for me as I found some interesting cigar factories and stores, but nothing special. My favorite shop is Mike's Cigars. They carry everything except Padron and their pricing is good. Their staff is very friendly and easy to chat with. For food, Joe's Stone Crabs is a must. Delicious and not crazy expensive, but not cheap either. They have a humidor and outdoor smoking area (Their humidor is awful though so bring your own). Just returned from Joe's Stone Crab... It was nice. Thanks for the tip Shlomo!
BostonJRay Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 Thanks for the info guys. Hopefully I'll make it some of the places mentioned as well as the beach. Our schedule is unfortunately pretty booked. And I thought I was in for a three day "work" vacation.
LLC Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I've been to Joe's in Vegas and Chicago. It's on of my favorite steak places and one day I'll get to the one in Miami.
LLC Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Its called Joes STONECRAB, Not Joe's "steakhouse"...lol Actually it is Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak and Stone Crab but I wasn't going to type all that out so I shortened it
