Diamondog Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Anyone have any feedback on these? I am thinking of grabbing some Sublimes. I've dropped coin before on unknown customs and was disappointed greatly...
CanuckSARTech Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I've heard so much good and bad about these. I personally haven't had any myself, but there's many others who have. Some of the other custom cigars I've gotten/received (COH customs / Czar's customs / Hamlet / Reynaldo / etc.) have been almost all epic. If any customs, like the Handsome Jimmy ones, seem to polarize people 50/50 based on their preference of them, I find myself staying away from them. Again, I haven't had these personally, but just some thoughts there on the general feelings about these, whether or not that helps you out some....

Mixed reviews on them really. I have never even heard of Handsome Jimmy before.
CanuckSARTech Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 No Phil, I know he meant the Handsome Jimmy ones, and not Ravi's COH customs. You can google Handsome Jimmy, and see what it's about. In my opinion, much ado about nothing. Reminds me of some NC cigar makers that throw around the "Cuban seed", "Havana leaf" terms, stuff like that, just for marketing and PR reasons. My two cents.
melies Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Yep Handsome Jimmy is in Merida, but I really don´t know anything about his Custom's (heard bad stuff though), Our HK friend on the other hand has some lovely ones

Actually what Phil meant was, him and I split on a box of COH Subs and for me they were shat...Both of us went in blind on them, ya win some ya lose some I suppose lol
Diamondog Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Our HK friend on the other hand has some lovely ones What makes our hobby so vastly different amongst each other, taste....couldn't stand 'em...lol
sblevit Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I have some piramide-like HJs. They are sweet and strong, an unusual combo. Not my favorite but interesting to mix things up.
Diamondog Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 My problem is I bought tons and tons of Hamlets (out now) and have spoiled myself beyond redemption lol
melies Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 What makes our hobby so vastly different amongst each other, taste....couldn't stand 'em...lol so true my friend so true
demiurgic Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 HK friends custom Sublimes were ok at best. I agree with Shlomo, they are a bit loose. Now Hamlets ....I'd like to try!
maverickdrinker Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Hamlets are ok..... I keed. I keed...
investandprosper Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Had two HJ Salamones. Riddled with hollow spots and terribly bland. I think I paid over $15 each for them. Wouldn't waste money on another.
Lotusguy Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Had a couple of gifted ones - didn't care for them much.

I get your apprehension then. If you don't like the COH ones (which I've had a couple now, mostly gifted ones - which, IMO, were so so, and needed lots of settling time), then you may be just to stay with Hamlet's and the like. Which.....we'll be enjoying aplenty in November.....
Diamondog Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 we'll be enjoying aplenty in November..... I just may show up!
CanuckSARTech Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I just may show up! I saw that earlier, that you were considering this. AWESOME!!!!
ptrthgr8 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 What are these Hamlets I see referenced from time to time? I've looked at the COH customs, but I've always been a little hesitant since it doesn't seem like they're any better bargain than some of the CCs I already know I like. I may have to break down and try them sometime, but it seems like people like the Hamlets more? Anyone care to PM the info to me? Cheers, ~ Greg ~
Diamondog Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 Hamlet custom robusto extras and torps below. Hamlet is one of the finest rollers in the world, world renowned and a very nice guy to boot! Some of the best cigars I have smoked. Not so readily available customs at least outside of Cuba...
Charltonc Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I have had a few Handsome Jimmies, meh. The 109 was good, yet expensive. I would rather buy regular production cigars and have twice as much. Furthermore, it all seemed very sketchy. I bought bags of reefer in college and it was not as sketchy.
