mychetboy Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I recently purchased a box of Siglo II with a stamp of January 2012. Does anyone have a good idea on how the 2009-2010 season turned our from a harvest perspective, since I believe these must have come from that season? Obviously this is a very young box and requires more aging. But I tried 2 sticks. I have to say though it was pretty aweful. The taste was very bitter and tasted like burnt paper. I could only smoke them for about 10 min before having to put them out. But, I am convinced these are the real deal based upon the box, stamps, etc...and the look of the cigars. The wrappers look very good and construction is perfect. Sorry I do not have pictures. Does anyone have a similar experience or does it really just need more aging. I just dont see me purchasing more Cohiba's if this is the case. Maybe I just got a bum batch? How long would you recommend me laying these down to hopefully see improvements.
GammerSmokes Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Just keep on ageing and have one every 6 months. Generally, I would lay that box to rest for a minimum of 3 years as every Siglo II I have encountered are from 2009, and very nice! iExplore on my Tappytalk part duex
UpInSmoak Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 It's a pretty standard school of thought that in order to give most Cohibas their due respect, one must give them 5 years of deep sleep. My 2 cents... I had a 2006 Siglo III last week, and it was great.
dangolf18 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Hmm, I haven't had a bad fresh Cohiba ever. Might want to check your source, post pics.

SurpriseMVP Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I've had tons of "bad" fresh Cohiba. Simply because they were fresh. I doubt it has to do with the source, could be storage and other things. Make that 3. Freshest Cohiba I'll touch is 09.
dangolf18 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 What are you guys smoking? . The only Cohibas I've tried fresh were the Siglo I, Siglo II, Siglo IV, Siglo VI, and the BHK's. They were all great ROTT but they did improve considerably with age.
mychetboy Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 Here are the attached photos of the cigars. I think they look very good..just very surprised it was not very tasty.
DrinkSmokeGolf Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I've had some sig I's ROTT that sucked. Got way better with a year on em. Let those babies sleep!
soutso Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Hello, Do you still have same batch of the Siglo II's? If so how are they going now? I smoke mine from 1 year up and they are a beautiful cigar. From your pics I can't see anything wrong with them though taste is the biggest factor in judging a fake or not. Cheers
