jay8354 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 On October 30, 2012, The Walt Disney Company announced a deal to acquire Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, approximately half in cash and half in shares of Disney stock. Lucasfilm and Disney had previously collaborated at times to create Star Wars and Indiana Jones attractions for various Walt Disney Parks and Resort attractions worldwide. A new trilogy of Star Wars films was announced at the same time, starting in 2015.
Fuzz AI Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Great. Disney owns Pixar, Marvel and now LucasArts. Let's just hope this means they won't be re-releasing new Director's Cuts of the original trilogy every 2 years and put back old man Anakin into the end of ROTJ.

That's the way ROTJ's end should have stayed!!!! Not with that stupid dance club number!!!

Nope, not rereleaseing, but putting out new stuff every two to three years. This could be good or bad, we'll have to wait and see. "The seventh movie, with a working title of “Episode 7,” is set for release in 2015. Episodes 8 and 9 will follow. The trilogy will continue the story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia beyond “Return of the Jedi,” the third film released and the sixth in the saga. After that, Disney plans a new “Star Wars” movie every two or three years. Lucas will serve as creative consultant in the new movies." -Source: http://sanfrancisco....-for-4-billion/
AndrewNR Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Very interesting.. Can't wait to see how this goes actually. Having never been a die hard star wars fan im not as emotionally invested so I'm purely curious to see if its a flop or not.
maverickdrinker Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 My original Star Wars collection has just gained in value. WOOHOO!!!!!
Hazza Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Good news they're keeping Lucas out of the directors chair. Hopefully we see a return to Empire Strikes Back sort of quality. Disneys done a pretty good job with the Marvel franchises so far Hopefully its not going to be Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus as Luke and Leia, lol
LexG Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Hopefully its not going to be Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus as Luke and Leia, lol please touch wood before you do anything else today!!
Fuzz AI Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Hell, it was bad enough when Lucas futzed with the original trilogy the first time round and added those extras scenes.
Scdalak Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I am optimisitic on Episode 7 now that I know Lucas cant write, produce or direct it.......... My best case scenerio would be a Nuclear Bomb being dropped on Jar Jar Binks....
ptrthgr8 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I've been wondering when this sort of thing was going to happen. The Star Wars franchise is so massive - lots of movie fodder there. Who wouldn't want to see a move from the Knights of the Old Republic era? That could be a 6-pack of movies right there. My intial reaction to the Disney news was full of unhappy thoughts. I still have some trepidation, but upon further reflection I really don't think it could possibly be any worse than the most recent movies (Episode I sucked. Episode II was decent. Episode III was pretty good actually) and it's entirely possible the new bunch of movies will be entertaining. Nothing will ever be able to compare with the original trio, of course, but as long as the new movies are entertaining and don't do a disservice to the Star Wars franchise (like Episode I did) then I will be a happy Star Wars fan. Cheers, ~ Greg ~
sblevit Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I wonder if the original (now aged) actors will appear in Episode VII. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=96580 Carrie Fisher then: Carrie Fischer now (Yikes!)
dcse Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I really look forward to the next stage. Who will be the new villain? What remains of the Empire? Will the Skywalker family remain key to the story line, or will the approach be completely different? Will Luke be old or long dead?
CanuckSARTech Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 It wouldn't surprise me if they went with the storyline of some of the early books. Something along the lines of Luke trying to reform the Jedi council and whatnot, and then Hans and Leia having twins, a boy and a girl, and them then being strong in the Force, and Luke starting to train Leia and the twins, etc.
Fuzz AI Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Goofy doesn't have the stones to be a Sith. We all know Scrooge McDuck is secretly a Sith Lord, and his apprentice is Donald. Just remember the rage Donald can get into.
jay8354 Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 If done right, Disney can give the fans what they really want - The Story of Boba Fett. Good thing about Disney, they don't re-release movies often. Just try and buy some of their other animations. They only release them at certains times and limited.
