I friggin love FOH. All of my favourite bikes are already on this page! Vincent, Enfield, Ural and Triumph. What's more to offer? Maybe BSA, BMW or maybe one of the Chinese knockoffs of the Russian knockoff of the wartime BMW. Or an Indian.

Rob, I would recommend either a triumph thruxton or Ducati sport 1000, both are modern cafe racer. Lots of style and classic looks with modern day technology. Or do what I am doing, turning a 1972 Honda CB750 into a cafe racer. A lot more reliable then the British bikes of the same era.

Or just get a modern Ducati to drool over........

H'ok.. Where to begin..

It's really hard to suggest a bike without knowing too much of what you're into.. Older Cafe style bikes I suppose does lend a bit of preference here..

I'm a sucker for the old triumphs.. perhaps this takes your fancy rob? Similar in capacity and style to your current love ; http://www.bikesales.com.au/private/details/triumph-thunderbird-650-6t-tr65-1957-12163255?__D=vintage&__Ntt=vintage&__Qpb=1&__Dx=mode%20matchany&__Ns=p_IsPoa_Int32|0||p_RankSort_Int32|1||p_HasPhotos_Int32|1||p_Make_String|0||p_Model_String|0||p_YearMade_Int32|1||p_PriceSort_Decimal|1||p_PhotoCount_Int32|1&__N=1432%20604%201430%201429%201626%201428&__Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&__Ntk=BikeAll&__Nne=15&__sid=13863BB9E3BA

It's also in your state.

Something close to my own heart, And perhaps yours.

I have an unrestored 1980SR250 I eventually intend to put some time love and money into.. some day... It was my first bike, And ive sold it twice and purchased it 3 times now.. Not again. Mine!

Someone say BSA? This is a brilliant example. Modernized in all the ways you want, Retro in all the ways the new bikes fumble to be.

And.. somebody said Ducati.. Personally I have a love hate relationship with Ducatis and Harleys.. Allot of them are really not to my taste, even though people rave about them.. Although I do have an appreciation for them.. Just generally not for the types that ride them.. I can't tell you how many Ducati riders have pulled the "You can't have Education without Ducati" line to me.. How about the you can't get passed the brand you sit on and I love motorBIKES you ignorant mc'****.. Anyway..

'42 Harley Davidson WLA. With roots deep in bikie culture and a pedigree in world war 2, It touches close to many places in my heart. I can't explain my fascination with it since an unusually younge age.. Soon after I was married last year, The ball dropped and somehow i bought one. Never thought I'd own one. It's Semi-restored to full military Milwaukee metal standard, Something I intend to continue once time and money allow.

My 49CC Pocket Bike.. I toyed with the idea of racing it. Soon found out Adelaides pocket bike club was moreso a collective of half baked kids meandering around a gokart track.. And I was ridiculously too tall for a ridiculously small bike.. Still got it in the shed with all the other bikes except my GSXR though.. GSXR is the only bike with me in Adelaide.

My "Clown Bike" due to the colours.. A 1980GS250 Suzuki :P I bought it after i Sold my SR for the second time and wanted a commuter.. Before i finished getting it on the road I purchased my SR250 back for the 3rd time.. And neither of them have officially been on the road since..

I should also mention here I don't have a car license and have spend a collective of perhaps.. 3 hours behind the wheel of a car :P

Nice looking street bob, I think I'm a fan of the older look mod harleys too.

So Rob the question is, What are you steering towards currently? Still love your Montessa Impala to bits, It'd be a shame to not take that out on the occasional Sunday!

I keep looking at the Custom Honda CB750 Cafe Racer.

I have always had this bike in the back of my mind as well.

Damn actually that's a difficult choice. Good things happen on a Honda :P

Although if you could find one of the Guzzi's I'd almost say go for that instead.. They're just so unique and you don't see allot of them. I suppose same could be said for the Honda too though..

Rob, love your Montessa - don't see them everyday.

Back in May of this year I bought a Ural M70 70th Anniversay Edition. I enjoyed riding the Bonnie about town, but the wifey wasn't a big fan of sitting on the back. I've always though sidecars were neat and the WW2 styling really made me take notice. I knew this is one bike I couldn't live without. The wifey and I have taken Pasha out just about every weekend since we brought the rig home. The boot is super handy, too - easy to take care of errands while being out on the bike. I don't ride Bonnie nearly as much anymore, which is a bit of a shame... or it would be if the Ural wasn't so much damned fun to take out and about. This bike was purchased brand new from Ural of New England - it was still in the crate that had protected it during its trip from the Irbit factory in Russia. Neat!

That's pretty sweet, Trevor. Is that your bike? I've never heard of the KS-750 before now. My ural M70 is a throw-back to the original Soviet-era Ural M72 that started production in 1942, which was itself pretty much a bolt-for-bolt copy of the German BMW R71:

That Zündapp KS-750 is certainly a different beast. That frame looks wicked solid. I would love to take one of those out for a spin just to see how different it is.

Thanks for posting that, Trev!

Couple of others:

Adler M150 - c1954.

BMW (forgotten model) - 1935 only 2 known (BMW museum does not have one).

Both fully road worthy.

Greg,

No, not mine. Neighbour of my wife's cousin (in Germany).

He does the full restore and rebuilt (a retired BMW race mechanic).

Those old bikes are so very cool indeed. They've got soul that the newer machines can try to imitate, but they never quite duplicate. I love my M70, though. I love everything about this bike – even the fact that it doesn’t have EFI. I love how the gearbox clunks every time you shift and how the pipes and everything else seem to shake and rattle with enthusiasm every time you throttle up. This bike has all the fun quirks of the original 70 year old design, but is far more reliable than even the original BMW R71 thanks to all the modern features like Brembo brakes, Ducati ignition, Marzochhi forks, Sachs shocks, electric starter (though the kick starter is still there), etc. The gearbox is the standard 3 up, 1 down type, but it’s nearly impossible to find neutral without using the reverse lever to help out – but it’s fairly easy to do once you get the hang of it. It certainly has its inherent quirks - but that's because it's still essentially a 70 year old design. And I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

Cheers!
