Low blow Ross!! :-p We are lucky having relatively easy access to truffles if you have foodie type friends here. Truffles are a nice treat
AndrewNR
I'd hardly call it "Farming" growing truffles is more like getting everything in order and wishful thinking really. It's like a dog race, You find the healthiest looking dog with the darkest coat, if it takes a crap you know its the lightest and you bet on it. Truffle "Farming" is much the same I generally prefur truffle oils or truffles cooked with other mushrooms etc. Fresh truffle for its price dosn't have a strong enough flavour per/quantity for me. Mind you, I have to feel like truffle aswell.. I don't think it's a flavour anybody loves the first time they try it. Like fresh oysters which i now adore. headstand
There is a fledgling truffle agriculture on Canada's west coast. I will be planting a few inoculated hazelnut trees myself within a year or two. Truffle oil folded into your mashed potatoes - wow!
