Habanos SA reads some of these posts..May I post a question?

I noticed for 2005. There are cigars only available to the regional market

for example:

RA Eminencias

Punch Robustos

for

Swiss market marked Edicion Regional

Wouldn't the profit margin increase if the these cigars were marketed as

worldwide release instead of only in Switzerland?

I have thought that the Regional Edicions were a "Test Market" for future additions besides the Limitada Edicions. We have seen the Regional Edicions in Switzerland and Italy, and if my memory is correct, El Prez talked about possible special Edicions available only at certain retailers or areas, thus why we had a rather long survey as to what special cigar that may have been discontinued for a limited production run. I believe that the RA 898, PL Lonsdale, RA Coronas and the Punch SS2 were the top runners in the voting here.

Let's see, off the top of my head, we have seen Germany come out with the Bolivar Gold Metals (1000 boxes), Switzerland come out with the Punch Robustos (??? Boxes)and the RA Eminencia's (1200 boxes) and the Italians come out with the RA Super Supremas (500 boxes).

I believe that each of these flew off the shelves and the retailers that had them enjoyed to quick turns and profitability they created.

Regions hold the rights to the regional releases for three years. After that, Habanos s.a can decide what it will do in regards to greater release.

In 2006 we will have three releases in our region all large format cigars. Unfortunately I have been handcuffed from saying anything until VP Garcia of Habanos s.a signs off on the cigars.

It is smart marketing as it keeps the overall Cuban brand fresh and interesting.

Rob, please accept this as a formal pre-order on all 3 releases.;-)

I gotta agree with Chuck on this one. The Punch Robusto had 1200 boxes and the RA Seleccion Suprema had 500.

It's a good marketing ploy indeed like Rob said. And more then likely increased profitability for Habanos S.A.

Half the fun of getting a regional release is tracking it down. Atleast for me it is...I love a good hunt :-D :hungry:

Also, Why doesn't Habanos S.A. get a clue? I don't think it's a coincidence that the Ramon Allones brand is the one that has been a Edicion Regional the most. ;-)
