brazoseagle Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 The Guard - 2011 Don Cheadle Brendon Gleeson Sergeant Gerry Boyle is a small-town Irish cop with a confrontational personality, a subversive sense of humor, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes, and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international cocaine-smuggling ring that has brought straight-laced FBI agent Wendell Everett to his door. Great Movie!!! Definitely worth a watch.

mazolaman Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Good film. Brendan Gleeson plays the lead, and is his usual brilliant self. Don Cheedle is also very good as the American cop sent to Ireland. A classic tale of the yokel policeman playing all sides to his advantage, not always for the good of everyone else. Sometimes toughing on bleak reality. Gleeson makes this film.
Ryan Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Really liked this too, although I got the feeling that sometimes Don Cheedle (who I've liked since he wore that wig in Boogie Nights) didn't really know where he was or what he was supposed to do. Pat Short as the idiot IRA-member was great.
