pjansen Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 This is my first review so I am not too sure how to format it but I’ll give it a try. Cigar: Montecristo Tubo Year: 2008 (not sure the box code) Location: Lake Keowee, SC (Beautiful Day) Duration: 1:30 Beverage: Black Coffee Wrapper: Cuba Binder: Cuba Filler: Cuba Appearance/ Construction: Firstly the cigar appearance was flawless except for the foot, which had some strands of tobacco hanging out. Probably the foot cutting tool was dull. Besides that perfect. The wrapper had a nice smooth, oily appearance. Construction was perfect, draw was perfect. Opening: The "Aroma at Cold" was a nice cedar and tobacco, predictably from the tubo. Once lit the opening flavors were a smooth tobacco and slight creaminess. First Third: The first third was prototypical Montecristo with medium body flavors or milk chocolate and cream. There was no harshness as being four years old the flavors were extremely smooth and balanced. Second Third: The second third brought on sweet spice to the palate, and also kept the core flavors of cream and milk chocolate. Also espresso flavors joined on the finish. The cigar burning razor sharp, kept its balance and smoothness throughout. Last Third: The last third did not bring many changes except for the spice building until the last draw. Burn was perfect and the ash held for 1 to 1.5 inch chunks. Summary: Overall this cigar was very enjoyable as I love creamy flavors in a cigar. The burn was perfect never needing any attention and the draw was ideal. While the flavors were not overly complex, they were extremely balanced and smooth. The cigar never had any hint or youth or harshness. Since this is my first review and since I have never rated a cigar on a number system, I will just say it was enjoyable and kept my attention the whole smoke.
