Fshaw Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Has shoutbox been disabled for people below a certain post count? I was able to use it before, but for some reason today it is not letting me post. Thanks!
brazoseagle Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I don't know for sure, but there have been some upgrades to the software technology, and it very well could be true, that the shoutbox is now only enabled after a certain amount of time or posts. I don't know, but don't let it discourage you guys, explore the site, contribute to some posts or reviews, and you will appreciate the community here. I guess our whole lives we never get away from having to deal as a group, with the negative actions of just a few sometimes, this may be no different. You are both welcome and encouraged to dive in !
CanuckSARTech Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 If it's a new feature, that you have to wait until you have 20 regular posts before you can use the Shoutbox, then honestly.....I love it! I think it's great. While it may be a bit annoying for legitimate members trying to ask an open question, I think it serves a lot of purposes. I think it'll help members get more active in actually posting threads and posts, to get answers from all, not just those that'll be currently online and able to read the shoutbox. Also, I think it'll cut down on the number of spam messages that get plastered into the shoutbox. And lastly, I think it'll cut down on some of the that seems to be popping up in the shoutbox, by making members more responsible maybe for a "permanent" post in a thread, rather than a quick shout, which will disappear after a few more messages, where the onus to follow the forum guidelines is skirted sometimes. I like it if it's a new thing. You have to wait until 20 or 25 posts until you can participate in a trade, until you can start a trade, etc., and now a shoutbox minimum-post limit. Personally, I'd like to see it 50 for all things, but maybe that's just the right-wing madman in me.

vanbellc Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I'm having the same trouble. I guess I'll just have to make more posts if that's the case.
