TWalker Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Awesome bike! Love the background scenery too.
Dbone Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Wait, what you can smoke and ride at the same time? And, nice ride Reh.
nonameno Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 nice ride! many happy trails wished for you.
ZinZan Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 It does look sleek Rehman. U got it Boon Foo's place eh? I dont remember seeing Van Nicholas there, i thought they carried Scott.
NMJoe Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 It chimes the tune to "Ding Dong Mid Life Crisis". Before getting married, I envision that my mid-life crisis would consist of a Corvette and a blond with unusually large...shoes. Now that I am married, it will probably be more like a Honda Civic and hair plugs. Oh well, I still have you fine folks...man, I'm screwed. Time to go smoke and drink. Cheers!!
Rehman Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 Whats the MPG? About 100km on a peanut butter sandwich and two cups of coffee. Thanks for the good wishes, gentlemen! (Zin, yes, it was from Bike Pro Centre, local agent for Van Nicholas. Boon Foo still has a 54cm specimen floating up in the rafters among the other classiques nouveau above the serried ranks of lacquered carbon on the shopfloor.) Dbone, I take that as a challenge. My favourite post-ride smoke is RASS, while stretched out on the sofa and admiring my legs.
El Presidente Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Well done mate! You are obviously a non starter for our FOH Fat Bastaerd Challenge. Looking great. Hats off to you. It can't be that comfortable riding distance in the heat of KL?
Rehman Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 Well done mate! You are obviously a non starter for our FOH Fat Bastaerd Challenge. Looking great. Hats off to you. It can't be that comfortable riding distance in the heat of KL? Thank you, TaiKoh! I avoid riding between the hours of noon and 3pm, but mornings and evenings hereabouts can be immaculate for cycling. I would never ride in KL, though, or any city not designed with bicycles in mind. Manic, mad and murderous. (And that's just the mindset of any cyclist who likes it!) But the verdant rolling hills and mostly empty roads around where I live is why I retired out here.
Warren Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 If only you had saved just a bit more money you could have got one with a few more spokes.
Rehman Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 If only you had saved just a bit more money you could have got one with a few more spokes. Bwahahaaa. That's the thing with this stuff: the more you pay, the less you get. Ultimately it will cost you the planet to ride nothing at all. I was indeed a bit leery of the wheels at first, especially the seven-cluster 21-spoke rear hoop, but they assured me it would merely smirk at my 83kg. While floating up hills. Astonishing design, materials and engineering... sorry, I do go on. Yo Aiz! This is what happens without kids to put through college.
aavkk Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Nice bike! Where in Malaysia are you? The scenery reminds me a lot of the area around KK
Murri Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Makes my bike seem like a kids tricycle, with training wheels. Enjoy it.
Rehman Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 Nice bike! Where in Malaysia are you? The scenery reminds me a lot of the area around KK Thank you! The location in the pic is about 100km north-by-northeast of Kuala Lumpur; the hills in the background form part of the Main Range of peninsular Malaysia, location of the resorts of Fraser's Hill and Genting Highlands. I live in a small town in those foothills, which, pretty as they may be, are but a shadow of the terrain around Mount Kinabalu in Sabah.
Dbone Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Dbone, I take that as a challenge. My favourite post-ride smoke is RASS, while stretched out on the sofa and admiring my legs. Atta boy!
Fuzz AI Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Nice looking bike you got there. When do you put on the spoke beads? And where do you insert the card between the spokes so your bike makes that great clickety-clack sound? Gotta admit, riding through the Genting Highlands must be bloody fantastic. I've vacationed there a few times and it is absolutely beautiful. Definitely going to head out there again the next time I'm in M'sia.
CanuckSARTech Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Very cool, Rehman. Good on ya, to get back on the horse again, so to speak. Well done, nice ride.
